The script is finished!

I finished the script. Here it is in all its glory. Tell me what you think.
When P-fleet got Pwnd by the Plingons
A woman sits screaming on the ground, a mutant coming nearer and nearer.
The screen goes dark, as someone just turned off the telly.
"Hey!" I was watching that.
We cut to a P-fleet bridge. A stickman sits in the captains chair with a bag of popcorn and a cup of coffee. A stickvulgar stands next to him with a remote behind his back. I'm sorry sir, but the feelers (What was it P-fleet called their sensors again?) has detected weapons fire.
We cut to the outside of the ship Stickstart, that lies still at an asteroid field, and pan a distance away to reveal a Plingon space buzzard using asteroids for target practice.
"Pattar pattar pattar!"
(Stop waisting ammo!)
"Pattar Patar Pattttar!"
(A Plingon warrior keeps his cannons erect and virile at all times!)
"Pat pat..."
(Yeah yeah...)
Back at the Stickstart, the captain is panicking.
Captain: "Fire everything!"
The Stickstart fires wildly around it hitting nothing.
Captain: "Did we get them?"
Vulgar: "Get who sir?"
Captain "The one who fired first you dolt!"
Vulgar: "You need to be more specific. You can't just assu.."
Captain: "Shut up! Fire again, and do it right this time."
Twinklers and Lightballs: "Pew pew pew pew!"
On the Plingon ship
"Pattar Patttttttar! Patar..."
(Someone is shooting at us! With very bad aim.)
"Pattaaaaaar!"
(Aaah, it's a good day to kick some ass!)
On the bridge of Stickstart
Vulgar: "We missed. No surprise there. Aaaand, they are locking weapons."
Captain: "You incompetent pests! P-fleet put pots of pennies pottytraining you potheads! Pricks! Pundits! Pantywearing, pestering potatoheads! Progeny of perverse petit penises!" Everything shakes violently "Pevasive pevasive pevasive!"
Vulgar: "Considering that salvo took down our deflector plates, good call."
The Space battle scene:
"Fire light balls!"
"Watch out for that roooooock."
"And the twinklers too!"
"Rooooocks!"
The Stickstart gets hit and finds itself dead in space.
The bridge of Stickstart
Engineer on a small screen. "All systems are cooking! The Twinkler and lightball launchers are on strike and refuses to talk to the controls´and the ship main computer is refusing to mediate unless it gets a raise! Deflector plates are dead! The coffee machine is about to explode!"
Captain: "Well, fix i!"
The coffee machine terminal on the bridge explodes. There is shocked silence. The Vulgar suddenly starts crying.
Plingon bridge
"Hahahaha!"
"Pattar pattar!"
(Lightball them to oblivion!)
"Pattar pat pat."
(we are out of ammo sir.)
"Pattar! Pattar pattar! Pat pat pat!"
(What!? Engage Stashing gadget! Retreat, retreat, retreat!)
Scene of The Plingon space Buzzard stashing. (Turning on cloaking device.)
Plingon Bridge:
Crewman whispering to the other crewman: "Pattar pattar pattar."
(The Disturber is an energy weapon, I was referring only to Lighballs.)
"Pattar?"
(Should we tell him?)
"Pat"
(Naaah.)
The End.
Oh, and have a look at this task: http://www.wreckamovie.com/tasks/show/983
Character animation
| Posted January 20, 2010 by David Jansson 3 Thumb-ups |
Character animation. I don't really know how to do it. But I didn't know how to make that space scene when I started it either. I have a bout of tiredness with school, but eventually I will hit the tutorials again.
I have been giving light and fire to explosions and projectiles in the spaceship scene. And I solved why the explosions wouldn't be affected by the speed settings I gave them. (Had the collision data after the explosion data in the data hierarchy. Makes perfect sense that that doesn't make sense, when you think about it.)
Yeehaw. Let's get this show on the road.
I need people to come finish the script. It just needs a few more lines.

That action editor don't work well if you don't know how to use NLA as well. If you followed those steps, you should have a walk cycle action. Now go to NLA edtior. You can see the object and that action (if it's the active action). Now press Shift+A and choose the WalkCycle. You should see yellow bar. The colour means that it is (pink when it isn't) selected and the lenght of the bar is same than the distance between first and last keyframe in the action. Press N and you have transform properties. Here you can adjust the start and end frames of the bar (increasing the distance between start and end will low the speed of the action). Other settings: repeat (how many times action will be repeated like when walking), add (movement will be added to other movements).
I don't have any parts from Sample animated yet and I don't have anything for a long time. Mutant scenes don't come immediately at the beginning either.
Thank you!
I had no idea what the action editor was for. This will help a lot.
As you have noticed this project has quieted down a bit. It's due to me having to focus on school.
I want to finish the Dog for sample, the Plingon Bridge and wrap up the space combat scene. But I just don't have the energy at the moment. I was thinking that the scene in the beginning, when he watches a movie on the viewscreen, could be from Sample. Fom the start of the movie, so we get to see the title. Would that be ok?
I can teach you animating if you want to. I used NLA and Action editing to A dog and a christmas tree. I had to learn it by reading from my book :)
I tell you now how to make a walk cycle:
Go to action editor. Make a new action and name it "WalkCycle". Go to frame 1 and make the extreme pose. Extreme pose is a pose where the movement has reached it's limits. Key bone rotations in pose mode. Remember to key only foot bones because these actions can be stacked each other so you can make different actions for hands when character is walking. Go to frame 21 and make the opposite extreme pose. Key it. Then copy keyframes from frame 1 and move them to frame 41. Now you should have something what looks like walking but is quite crappy. Middle poses are missing! Make middle poses to frames 11 and 31. Middle pose is quite close to standig position.
Note: If you have difficult to get keyframes to right positions, make the "snap keyframes to frames" option selected. It's unselected by default. I don't remember where it was...
Stick Wreck the movie - Ideas
| Posted January 04, 2010 by David Jansson 2 Thumb-ups |
I just don't know. I have a couple of ideas for the movie, the first one is slightly unattainable, the second one makes it a crossover.
My first idea is to make Stick Wreck the musical. I was thinking about using existing melodies from existing musicals with new lyrics. (Every number would be preceded by an inconspicuous text saying the original song and musical title.) The story would be a parody based on a mix of Star Trek V, the undiscovered country and Romeo and Juliet. The Juliet equivalent would be Plingon. This is slightly unattainable since it's kind of hard getting a whole cast of skilled singers to volunteer for free for this big and silly a job...
The second idea is to make a Stick Wreck/Doctor Who crossover. It would take place between one of the Doctors' body changes, when he somehow gets stuck in the Stick Wreck universe, and a stick figure body, when he is between real bodies. (From anyone witnessing the body change there will have taken no time at all, from the real series point of view.) The Tardis, being protective, has of course come with him. Imagine the opening scene, the Doctor wondering what is happening, not exactly being in a body he expected, and the Stickstart crew arguing so they don't notice the blue box they are about to run into. Crash! And the doctor sticks his head out the door and yells; "Hey, watch where you going! Bloody Sunday drivers."
Maybe I need better ideas... What do you think?

ok.........
The musical would be fun, but it would be too dependant on getting good singers, and someone that is good at fixing lyrics to melodies.
The Doctor Who crossover is possible though. I had a thought where I thought that the Brilliance of The Doctor and the stupidity of P-fleet was a too big a gap for them to be in the same story and still be a good story. But then I figured out a way around that. It would require some damn clever writing though. (I won't be part of making a parody Doctor that is as stupid as the original is brilliant, It's the one fictional character that I think is so brilliant that it would not only lack respect, but also be kind of superfluous in an abstract kind of way.)
What we would need to do is write a Stick Wreck cast whose combined strengths and weakness form a completely unpredictable crew. Especially when you are a brilliant timelord who would take for granted that an advanced FTL spaceship like the Stickstart would be crewed by the best of the best.
The unpredictability of the crew can be constructed by playing on the typical Star Wreck cast. They are petty and shallow, but also brilliant in their own way. Add to that a power structure where you never really know who will gain the initiative due to said strengths being less than obvious, especially in when they will surface.
Add to that a ship AI that isn't really rogue but still has had enough and throw in some benevolent highly developed aliens that the AI will try to defect to.
I am also considering throwing in a female captain for the Stickstart that might be the only actually truly competent and committed captain in all of P-fleet, and you can bet we will have a mutiny, on top of everything.
If this film turns out really good, we could think about making a real TV/internet series telling about a small space ship crew trying to survive in a world of Star Wreck.
For faces, it's also a option not to make them. stickmans are usually without any face but only problem then is the plingon face... It's not a stickman.
Stick Wreck Shorts are possible, I actually mentioned that in the first news post about the movie. http://www.wreckamovie.com/productions/stickwreck/news/400 All the the 3d model blend files will be released under Creative Commons, so it should be easy to make your own Stick Wreck shorts.
That reminds me the task that I have dreaded, learning character animation. And I still need to put control bones on a face... I have a feeling facial animation especially will be tedious and tricky to get to look good...
I think I will need some program that can separate whatever file format my webcam puts out into frames. Then I can do faces and count how many frames the movement takes, so I can make the facial expressions look natural.
Hmmm. I'm making a task for this...
They are both very valid! And, you could make several Stick Wreck shorts to cover different ideas. Think of them as episodes? ;)

That is WERY good. :) I think you should animate this at yourself to avoid any mess.
Well done! Let's get animating then. I finish the bridge soon.
