Major hurdle passed

Posted December 25, 2009 by David Jansson 2 Thumb-ups

I have passed a major hurdle today.

I have learnt how to use composite nodes and thus solved the face animation problem.

Today I control the Plingon face, tomorrow, THE WORLD!

About conquering the world, I am working on it.

I think I am going to subdivide the plane and attach a bone armature to the face.

What about your plans to control the world??? :D

And other thing... You have finished the plingon face but can you control it?? How are you going to change those face textures during the movie?

David Jansson December 25, 2009 22:10 Flag

Learning renderlayers, I had to, to get the Face to be visible, even though it is placed inside the head mesh.

As for resting, I have very little to do at the moment. This isn't making me crazy, it's keeping me sane...

You are going grazy... You should rest a bit :)

Composite nodes are funny. Did you learn to manage render layers?

I'm learning

Posted December 23, 2009 by David Jansson 3 Thumb-ups

Ever so slowly, I am starting to get the hang of this.

Next time, Nebula bigger but further away to avoid the perspective problem...

Edit: New version, included all three so that you can see how it improves.

Considering how the Plingon ship is intended to be manoeuvred I think I might have it just follow the path, but not have the path affect rotation leaving rotation entirely to IPO-curves.

Now, I need to make a stick Plingon and learn how to make objects break apart...

One thing shpuld be done. Make the emit value of the ship material higher. In space, there is allways some light and the ship should be bright even when it's not effected by light.

Nicely done! You are getting better all the time.

I may know how to brake objects apart. I have a old blender book wich tells how to do it with a demolition script. That book is quite old tough, so I don't know how it goes in general. Demolition script makes objects in group 1 to brake objects in group 2 apart. demolition is calculated from the verticles of the objects. Each face will work like a object and will be calculated separately. You can adjust the breaking by adjusting verts.

You are making progress, good job.

Stick Wreck the movie

Posted December 21, 2009 by David Jansson 3 Thumb-ups

Just so you know, if this turns out reasonably OK, I'm doing Stick Wreck the movie. Or possibly Stick Wreck the series. Shorts are easier to write and, above all, easier to actually finish.

Just so you know.

Okay. I think that series would be better than movie.

David Jansson December 21, 2009 18:56 Flag

No, you misunderstand. When this one is finished I will start a new Stick Wreck project if this turns out good enough. You and Joel are, of course, invited. :)

Daniel Saarimäki December 21, 2009 18:46 Flag

Should we change the plot? This was originally a short film and the plot is short.

Daniel Saarimäki December 21, 2009 18:43 Flag

:)

When did he say that? You aren't grazy, but you are coming closer all the time :)

David Jansson December 21, 2009 18:39 Flag

Hehe, I am not crazy! Only one person ever said I was crazy, and he was a psychologist, so he doesn't count!

Daniel Saarimäki December 21, 2009 18:24 Flag

OOOKKKKAAAYYYY just go ahead... this is going to be interesting...
