Production Forum
| Posted December 13, 2011 by Crafty Lion Productions 0 Thumb-ups |
It's been a while since I last posted on this page. Since my last post, a few things have changed in terms of the development.
Firstly, we have changed the name of the series to Galaxy Novus: StarPol. It had been brought to our attention that the StarPol name had already been used in the form of children's books by author Stephen Tully. Hence the addition of Galaxy Novus. This allows us to still use StarPol in the name without the breach of copyright laws.
Secondly, we have set up a production forum to discuss concepts and ideas for the series. This includes any ideas regarding life in the 32nd Century.

Production house genre shift
| Posted November 02, 2010 by Crafty Lion Productions 1 Thumb-up |
After some discussion, Crafty Lion Productions has decided to shift our focus for film production to sci-fi, fantasy and gothic genre - and StarPol happens to be one of them.
Having said that, we're looking for any volunteers who might be interested in helping us make this happen.
Any position vacancies can be found at our official site - http://craftylion.com. Click on The Crew link for more information.

Ok.
Send me us email at info@craftylion.com and we can talk some more. :)
I might take a crack at it. I will continue to work on the models.
Would you be interested in being one of our animators or graphic artists?
The 3D ship I'm making for Starpol can be animated.
STARPol Parallax

We are planning on filming the first episode of the series as an experimental short film early next year. Power of the Emperor will be set in the modern world with technology and laws of 32nd Century StarPol.

It's still a good idea to get something out there so folks and see what your trying to do.
At this stage, we're not overly concerned with animation. We have editing programs which will accommodate the special effects from weapons fire and other stuff.
We are just concentrating on filming this as if it is happening in the present world [ie with humans as opposed to different species].
The second idea is certainly an interesting one. I'll have a think about that.
The animation will still go ahead - just as a separate project. We're just hoping to use this concept to visually sell the series and see how we go.
You could always end with a pull back shot showing a domed over city that's part of a large space station.
Sounds like you can do the same thing they did with Capercia. Modern city with space age stuff.
What kind of 3D animation might you need?
Filming option

While the animation is the main objective for wreck-a-movie, we have always looked to film the series to a full-blown TV production. Of course, most of what will be utilized in the TV series will be based on what is discussed here.
So, when designing stuff for the animation, think about the big picture too. Who knows? One day we'll be able to put your name in the credits of the TV series!

Green screens are an ideal solution for the most part.
However, in a series where most designs must be done from scratch, we need some designs to work on [eg uniforms, weapons, etc] before we can film the trailers as these are items that can't be added later in post-production edit. :)
Funding is something we are working on.
You may want to concider green screens for fiming. (Make sample trailers this way on the cheap.) I've seen some very well made Fan Fiction films using this. However, if you can get more funds you can't beat full sets.
