Snowblind's German Premiere

Posted May 14, 2010 by Kalle Max Hofmann 9 Thumb-ups

Ladies and Gentlemen,

we are proud to announce that the 21st International Emden Film Festival is going to host the German premiere of our film. Initially, screening dates have been announced for 7th and 9th of June. This is especially nice as it's almost exactly one year after we began shooting :D

As we found out the hard way, most people in the German movie scene think it's absolutely verboten to make or even support a German action movie. That's why we are totally humbled, delighted and thankful for this invitation!

The FilmFest Emden has been around for more than two decades, with different venues covering Germany's western north sea area (East Frisia) and has a focus on theatrical productions from northwestern Europe, especially the UK. About a hundred movies are screened in the eight days of the festival.

Here is this year's vignette trailer that is used in the screenings. Let's just say it perfectly matches the tongue-in-cheek retro style of SNOWBLIND ;P

Of course we will be there for the screenings and we'll try to catch as many other movies, workhops and parties as possible - and we're hoping to meet some of you awesome wreckers there as well! So start hiking, guys... Emden is in the top-left corner of Germany, very close to Holland =)

See you there,
Kalle-Max ^_^

Man...only a couple of days away. I remember when I first stumbled on your production and now look how big it's gotten. So glad to see you guys come so far with it. I can't wait until I can get a copy of it here in the states.

I will be looking into my schedule and see if there's any way I can make it. Cannot make any promises at this stage but I'll be doing my best. ;)

Alright it's online now: The MAIN SCREENING of Snowblind will be on Monday, the 7th of June at 21:00 hours (9pm) at the Apollo Theater.

Then there is a "re-run" on Wednesday, the 9th of June at 19:00 hours at the "VHS Forum" (which is rather smallish).

Well on the website, it said the programme will be online on the 20th... which was yesterday ;P And today it says, they're just putting it up... whatever that means! Hope it will come online later today...

Kalle, any news about that schedule/programme? :)

Eddie, "Otto" is a German comedian from the town of Emden... so this was some sort of in-joke I guess ^_^

Well we certainly hope that the film will be shown in the UK! We're currently looking for festivals that specialise in films of the fantasy/sci-fi/cult genre... do you have any suggestions?

I have been waiting for this one to be finished! Will it be aired in the U.K.?

Eddie the slinker May 16, 2010 00:05 Flag

@carl: I didn't get it?

Kalle Max Hofmann May 15, 2010 22:40 Flag

Maybe we can counter that by selling cheap papier-maché cowboy hats ;P

Don't let the Ostfriesen talk you into buying their cheap souvenir lighthouses!
I've seen a movie on how they make them, and they waste lots of good paper!

Yeah that would be awesome, Peter!

Peter Vesterbacka May 14, 2010 13:27 Flag

Great! I will see if I can make it there as well!

Kalle Max Hofmann May 14, 2010 13:09 Flag

Much appreciated, thanks :D

Angela R. May 14, 2010 13:08 Flag

Sounds great! Keep us posted, I'd love to help if there's anything I could do!

Kalle Max Hofmann May 14, 2010 13:06 Flag

Hehhe, so you'd be there faster than us, coming from Berlin... ^_^
Actually we don't know very much yet, just got word a couple days ago and the official programme isn't out yet. There'll be a press conference on May 20th so I guess by then, we should have the schedule to do some planning :D

Angela R. May 14, 2010 13:01 Flag

Hmm... it only takes 3,5 hours of train to go from here to Emden... ;)

Kalle... any idea at what time are the screenings going to be? And if I couldn't be there for the screenings, would there be anything that a silly wrecker like me could come and do to help you guys promote your production? 8P

Well done Kalle-Max, Snowblind's one of Wreckamovie's flagship productions so it's great to see it making it to the finish line.
