Snowblind is a 3D movie!

Posted March 28, 2010 by Kalle Max Hofmann 6 Thumb-ups

My fellow Wreckers,

today we proudly announce that Snowblind is in fact the first post-apocalyptic independent greenscreen western in 3D ever.

To give you a first impression of how this will look like, we've put together a little teaser. To watch it, you need some of those red/cyan glasses.

That clip can be seen on vimeo

And on youtube of course (albeit in lesser quality)

Since the film was shot monoscopically, it's a bit of a challenge sometimes to get a good three-dimensional impression. As you can see by the guns being held into the camera, we're doing our best though ; )

Your feedback on how this "cardboard-3D" works for you is more appreciated than ever!

Cheers,
Kalle-Max ^_^

well, what should I say? I'm dying to see this movie.

Sorry to say i'm a sceptic with 3D. If still waiting for smooth 3D, not the obviously layered cardboard 3D. Even Avatar seemed cardboard.

But that is freakin' awesome! How did you do that!? I always thought you needed two cameras from different angles to make it 3D, but obviously i'm behind the curve.

Zorro-type stylished Snowblind 3D glasses in the DVD box would be awesome.

"the first post-apocalyptic independent greenscreen western in 3D" is a mouthful, though. Not the best tagline, unless you venture deep into the camp movie field.

But it's a marvel that you've created something completely new to the movie field. That is a rare thing, indeed. I'm sure others will follow.

Well Seppo, if the film will be released in the so-called "anaglyph" format it will surely come with glasses... But I don't like that too much as it's really hard on the eyes and the colors are mostly lost...

The 3D version is rather destined fpr the new techniques of shutter or filter glasses that are coming out for home just now... The stereoscopic teaser is just there to give you an impression how Snowblind will look in three dimensions ^_^

Do youi include the red/cyan glasses on DVD box material too?

You guys should make some Snowblind glasses and make them available for all of us to order;-)

I need some glasses here! :)

Great! A lot of firsts. Also the first 3D movie on Wreckamovie I believe. Showed the current trailer during my pitch at the San Diego Indiefest film festival, think you got a few more fans;-)

Hehhe I thought about that, too... but no, we're serious :D

Great On-Air Coverage For Snowblind And Wreckamovie!

Posted March 07, 2010 by Kalle Max Hofmann 6 Thumb-ups

As reported earlier, the German youth broadcast station ON-3 has recently developed some interest in collaborative film making. Their concept is really great, especially considering they are a public station who are often said to be a little stiff and dusty. Instead , ON-3 is really state of the art by offering Germany's youth real multimedia cross-coverage by unifing their TV, radio and web programming. All the shows are interlinked and their topics can be looked up on the web just hours after broadcast.

A really impressive setup, so the fact that they contacted us to speak about Wreckamovie on this platform kind of amazed all of us :D

Of course, all that stuff is in German - but even if you don't understand it, you can use their database to get a look at some exclusive new footage by following this link:
http://tinyurl.com/yh7ss9j

And last week, the coverage was completed by a live interview at their roadshow "Südwild" which follows their huge broadcast bus through the country. The interview can be seen on youtube now, again it boldly features the new video footage and put the URL wreckamovie.com on screens nationwide :D Check it out right here:

Have fun,
Kalle-Max ^_^

Well I guess this is called "investigative journalism" ;D
Hope some day I'll be as good in answering questions as Tom Tykwer. I once saw him at a screening of "Run Lola Run" and he managed to give interesting answers even to those audience questions that were close to retarded ;P

NICHT SONDERLICH KREATIV!!!!???? who is this bavarian guy?

I'm off to low-northern Finland this weekend so i'll see what i can do. I asked a friend for a new Canon 5D, so the quality should be there.

I haven't been to the place, and it's only 600-700 km north of Helsinki, so no mountain vistas. But i'll try to get good ones of the road at both sunny skies and sunset. The weather forecast looks good.

So i'll shoot anything from projected closeups to wide angle shots. I hope i find what i want there. Any wishes about the lighting? Full daylight, red twilight or It ain't quite Lapland, but there are MANY cool hinterlands roads in Finland - that's why we win in Rally.

I remember i had one cool one, but i think deleted it since it was not worthy from idea viewpoint for having. I wish i never deleted anything.

Hi Jani, matter of fact we really need some more shots! I've set up a new task for this:
http://www.wreckamovie.com/shots/show/5596

We're looking for backgrounds for "vehicle establishers", so we need some impressive-looking snowy roads... Preferably shot from an elevated position which is not too easy of course, but something like a frog's perspective or a side view should also be fine :D

Jani Salomaa March 08, 2010 02:19 Flag

It was real cool seeing how a shot came together. You've really made things with that Moroccan farm pic of mine i could never have dreamed of. This week i'm headed north - are there any snowy pics you still need?

I really should go to take a retour to Morocco and thank the farm owner, and the people that helped me reach the amazing rock desert for Landing.
