300K, Western Festival and Funding Showdown!

Posted July 04, 2011 by Kalle Max Hofmann 1 Thumb-up

Howdy Folks,

Snowblind just hit another milestone in it's YouTube career, 300.000 confirmed views!

This is pretty thrilling, and even more exciting is the fact that the time it takes to add 50K views decreases by a couple of days each time around - from 100K, we worked our way down from 8 weeks to a mere 6 by now :D

So thank y'all for helping us spread the word. Another current event that showcases the power of our community is our crowd funding campaign at IndieGoGo. Even though we have "only" collected $1600 so far and there's less than three days to go, we're pretty surprised how much noise our posse is able to create on facebook and twitter! Maybe YOU can join the fun too, the whole thing really IS pretty exciting with that countdown and all ;P

The last cool piece of news is that SNOWBLIND has been chosen for the Almeria Western Festival in september 2011. The screenings are held in the home of Euro Westerns, a true replica of a wild west town that served as the set for many movies! Have a look at

Snowblind Stories Episode 2 is out :D

Posted June 23, 2011 by Kalle Max Hofmann 1 Thumb-up

Howdy Folks,

today we released the second instalment of our Snowblind Stories. We're doing this series to give you guys an insight into the production, and promote our crowd funding campaign at the same time.

This weeks episode deals with the creation of a complete scene, from storyboard to animatic to green footage up to the finished scene... or should that be "finnished " scene, cause fellow wrecker Hannu Hoffrén shows his skills in a VFX breakdown ;D

To see the video, scroll down a bit on the campaign page and click on the player image:

There's only two weeks left to the deadline, so please have a look at the campaign and its great perks ... and SHARE :D

Cheers,
Kalle-Max ^_^

Brand New Behind The Scenes Video!

Posted June 14, 2011 by Kalle Max Hofmann 1 Thumb-up

Howdy Folks,

as we're entering the last leg of our crowd funding rally, we've released a brand new behind the scenes video for Snowblind 3D - called 'Snowblind Stories Episode One'.

Yes indeed, we're planning to do an episode each week now, for the remaining three weeks :D

We hope that this makes our endeavour more comprehensible and encourages people to share the video on their social media platforms.

In the meantime, we had some trouble with pur campaign, as the PayPal option didn't work which cost us at least two fundings =/ The reason for this was a bug at PayPal, which the helpful Indiegogo guys helped to sort out. Now we're set to go... and one really generous sponsor set a great example by buying the $1000 perk, rumor has it this person comes from the rank of Your Fellow Wreckers!

So check out the new video at

Cheers,

Snowblind On The Air, Again!

Posted June 01, 2011 by Kalle Max Hofmann 1 Thumb-up

The large south-german youth radio station "ON3" has done another little report on Snowblind and it's humble creators ;-)

It's only about 3 minutes long and I get to say something like two sentences - as the new German CC movie "ExoDos" is also a topic that gets some air time.

http://on3.de/element/10757/creative-commons-statt-urheberrecht-lizenzen-aus-dem-baukasten

Strange result considering the interview took 30 minutes, and my second statement is even put into a wrong context, but hey. Any publicity is good publicity, and we're very thankful to ON3 because they really made it a habit to report on Snowblind every other month :D

Unbekonwnst to us, they had mentioned Snowblind again in mid-2010, after doing a TV and radio interview with us in the beginning of that year. The article is actually about the YouTube project "The Life In A Day".... still they do not fail to put our names on one level with Ridley Scott and big-time German director Sönke Wortmann 8D

Well I think this is really something to write your mum a postcard about ^_^

So thanks ON3, you have our eternal gratitude...!
(still you could try and spell my last name right for once hehhe)

Kalle-Max ^_^

ps: I also made this a shot in the "Press Stuff & Marketing" task, at http://www.wreckamovie.com/shots/show/8765

Don't worry about the use of your interview. Airtime is airtime. Snowblind floats!

As a journo, i can attest to this: oftentimes we get excited and do (way too) long interviews - only to find, that the medium and the main topic kills the majority of it. Sometimes all of it. And we may have to mod the context heavily to include any of it. We're under VERY strict deadlines daily. I hate it, the people interviewed hate it. The audience likes it.

I can imagine it's only harder in radio with strict airtime restrictions.

Sympathy for the journos! Or "lemmings" as a former Finnish president used to call us :)

Crowd Funding Campaign Launched!

Posted May 11, 2011 by Kalle Max Hofmann 2 Thumb-ups

Howdy Folks,

another wednesday, another update :D

We have just launched a crowd funding campaign on InideGoGo now - in order to finally get a 3D Blu-ray printed. It turned out that this is quite a costly endeavour, so we're hoping to get it done with your help!

For the stereophobes among you, be assured that there will also be a 2D version included on the disc, and grud permitting we will also make a DVD in the process. So this is the first actual and real possibility for you to pre-order Snowblind on a disc-based medium!

Take a look at our campaign at IndieGoGo - as a bonus, you can see a 7:30 min promo edit of the 3D version of SNOWBLIND in HD there. Check it out, and if you can, help us out. Not necessarily with money, also blogging, posting and tweeting about our campaign helps a great deal!

Thanks a lot,

Kalle-Max ^_^

Thanks, Jani! There's a very high probability we'll also make a DVD that you can watch on your computer ;D

Actually we could afford making a DVD on our own money, but this would lack the revolutionary aspect of having a 3D-Blu-ray of a NO BUDGET Film. I guess this would be some kind of world's first :D

So far, not much has happened with our campaign though... I'm sitting here all day writing to all kinds of blogs, hoping something will come through!

After all, we "only" need a 100 people to pre-buy the exclusive blu-ray or DVD. Doesn't sound toooo difficult now...?!?

Jani Salomaa May 16, 2011 16:11 Flag

I don't even have a TV, but if i get a credit card, you'll be the first target of my spending spree :)

Kalle Max Hofmann May 12, 2011 16:29 Flag

Good thing the campaign is running for 56 more days ;P

Carl Voluntaryist May 11, 2011 18:21 Flag

In ~40 more days I might be able to afford a cut off that pie... :(

Kalle Max Hofmann May 11, 2011 17:14 Flag

Buy both of them, and you will know ;D

No really, I'm not sure about those perks in general. Seems people buy them more out of idealism and what's behind is has more of an emotional value, which is of course different to everyone ^_^

I think our community is really too small for the ceowdfunding to work well... Unless you get a lot of facebook/twitter buzz, this is not going to work... because unless you look for it specifically, you'll never find our campaign on the site. So there will be no "passers-by" accidentally browsing our page and donating something.

But we will yet have to see how it goes... who knows, maybe they make us a "featured production" at some point! I'm keeping my fingers crossed =)

Carl Voluntaryist May 11, 2011 15:42 Flag

Didn't you accidently swap the Gold Digger, and Governor Perks?

A one-of -a-kind disk with other collectors stuff seems worth more than a title...
