What I've always wanted to see... > Sci-Fi Movies > Shadowrun TV-Series by: Carl Voluntaryist
This is a Sci-Fi/Fantasy crossover.
It's sometime between 2050-2065.
The world is run by powerful extranational mega-corporations, citizens slave away at their jobs in giant self-sustaining high-tech city-buildings called arcologies.
Technology has developed far enough to link mind and machine.
Deckers (Hackers) traverse the wide expanse of the Matrix (web), battling deadly brain-frying Intrusion Countermeasures to get the paydata that will allow them to survive another day.
Riggers link with, and practically become, vehicles. Feeling, seeing, hearing anything the sensors relay to them. Allowing them to react quicker than any normal person ever could.
Heavily cybered Street Samurai have given up their flesh for chrome, gaining unyielding mechanical strength, wired reflexes, and unparalleled digital precision, becoming cold, efficient, killing-machines.
But that's not the half of it.
Around 2012 the stars, planets, and astral space aligned, and magic returned to the world.
Creatures of legend awoke, and roam the lands. Great Dragons run corporations, or run for President.
Dwarves & Elves are born to human parents, while some teenagers change in violent transformations to become Orks & Trolls.
Mages & Shamen sell their services, summon powerful spirits, and give your team that extra edge necessary in this crazy world.
This is a world of digital espionage, powerful magic, deadly technology, and millennia-old conspiracies.
If you don't use all your skills it will chew you up, and spit you out.

It is my intent to make a web/TV-series based on this universe.
Something with a wide story arc. Many different shadowrunner-teams working towards a shrouded goal.
The episodes would each focus on a small part of the larger picture, and we'd get to see the opposing side's point of view.
Each team gets a couple of episodes allotted, and sometimes there's cross-pollination. Having a fixed cast would not work here.
They would be narrated by a changing anchor. A fixer telling the story, perhaps an exec, or a retired (or dead) runner reminiscing. Maybe even a dragon (like Wyrm Talk). Sometimes the anchor might be the target of the run, sometimes the Johnson, or sometimes just an observer.

Do not worry, Carl. Such things happen. Running a production is just as exciting as scary due to the responsibilities involved. Just remember yourself that you are nowhere in a rush, keep realistic deadlines, and everything will be just fine! :D
*hug!*

There are two books that I think would make great movies. natural History by Justina Robson and House of suns by Alastair Raynolds.
Roy Fowler

VAST
The year is 2484. Mankind has been growing, life has continued and life and the problems of man are much the same as today. We have travelled far into space and found that there are no Aliens, no Starfleet, no United Federation of Planets. Space is vast and empty. Much to the surprise of the Space community and the worlds press the call is given for the creation of the first ever one way manned deep space scientific probe. A single individual will be placed into cryosleep and sent towards a seemingly nondescript distant star. So who will volunteer? Why would they? What is the real purpose behind this mission? Why are the Military on the selection committee? The story unfolds in the vastness of space.

Yea, first I chickened out, and was going to delete it. Then I thought I could recycle the space as an idea-generating area, and then I re-started the Shadowrun project elsewhere.
You live and you learn.

What happened? I thought this production was exclusively about Shadowrun. What's this 'What I've always wanted to see' thing about?
Not sure this shot will be of any use but I am a hopeless Trekkie... and I feel that some really wonderful books about the Cardassian history and culture have been written after the DS9 TV-series has been completed:
"A Stitch In Time" by Andrew Robinson
"Cardassia" and "The Never Ending Sacrifice" by Una McCormack
The "Terok Nor" trilogy by S.D. Perry and Britta Dennison
If I was a multimillionaire, I would push Paramount Pictures to make a Star Trek movie about life as experienced on the Cardassian side. Enough humans - enough Federation! We've seen enough of that, and it has come to a point where sometimes, things seem too perfect to be able to relate to them fully.
On the other ends, the Cardassians are very clearly "sinners".
In a way, they are very, very "human".
A movie about growth and development of this species that is often considered "evil" would greatly interest me. Who has read the books I listed above would certainly agree that Cardassians are not pure evil just as Klingon and Romulans aren't. They are just "misunderstood" and still in need for growth and development as a species. Just as we are.
Eventually, I propose a trilogy of films "outside the Federation" about each of these three races: Cardassians, Klingons and Romulans.
But I suppose that some fan-fiction of the kind would also do. ;)
Or should I just start a petition to Paramount, instead?
How many signatures do you guys think I should collect for them to start moving in this direction? ;)
