Hi together. Today, I'm gonna give you the first task. It's quite important to the story. It's the main character. I have the story in mind. Until around the middle of it. but these are just vague images of how it'll gonna be. What I need is a main character, that fits into the story. I don't like stuff like the Captain of the shuttle, that's bringing the sattelite to earth, being involved in the technical stuff down on earth, because he's the only person who can do it (because he is the captain! ;) Also there should be room for a romantic side, which will not become an main storyline in this but I think it should be there. I'm not really good at those things, that's why I ask you to help me out. I'll assign this to the directors and the producers group also, because they everytime have something in mind ;) Thanks in Advance

A curious teen sneaks into the shuttle and goes to the satellite, his presence unknown to the captain and crew. He eventually gets caught, and he has a bumpy start concerning his relationship with the shuttle crew, but eventually over time, he matures and learns about what's going on around him during the course of the film. The crew also learns a few things from him as well, and a lasting friendship is established.

For the romantic part, I also think we should put in a stowaway as well. It could be someone who starts off hating our hero, but eventually comes to understand and love him. So it could be that when the character sneaks into the shuttle, the girl will follow and try to stop him, but eventually gets trapped with him for most of the film.

because of the voyeuristic nature of the theme, I think that a female protagonist would be the best choice because it would be a subtle homage to the nuances of gender roles, especially with the update of technology in the present time. people are used to watching the lives of others unravel all over the social networks. and nobody is more watched than women. to get followers and friend requests with the least amount of effort, you don't need to be interesting, witty or cool all you need is to be a hot girl with a display picture.

but heres my opinion. I feel like maybe the main character should be almost unrelated to the actual event and just affected by it, just a bystander/ collateral damage to make it relateable and more realistic. kinda like how in cloverfield the main character is just some random guy with a camera he might not be in the middle of the action but he's always involved or affected.

This, or even a portmanteau style. multiple characters and how they are affected on earth. people whos lives can be changed by being able to see the truth of history for good or bad and people whos lives are affected by the reactions of the protestors or whatever.

I know I wasn't particularly specific. but I thought I would just spit ball a few ideas to keep it real and not be so unrealistically science fiction-y. to keep the humanity and not focus on the technology. kinda. hope this helps. n__n

After quite a long time, here I go again with some information about the whole thing:
- Another main character: A freshman-soldier. Just joined the army. A geek, who studied propulsion technology before, but was only interested in weapons. Helps out with weapons in the story (need some tasks for his storyline later on ;)
- The story starts with a man who discovers, that the mars is leaving it's orbit around the sun slowly. (No - not what you think. It woun't crash into the earth)
- Another discovery: S.E.T.I. finds out, that someone receives the signal they're sending. Someone tries to find out, if the signal changes, if it's being answered. But the way it's being answered - in very small, alomst undiscoverable packages - makes S.E.T.I. suspicious about the intensions of the receiver. Maybe it wasn't so good to let everyone know, that we're here ;)
- Yes, there will be a contact. But I am not completely sure about, how. Because it'll not be very peaceful.

Hope, that gives you an impression, how the story will change in the second part.

Ok. My first spoiler caused a little bit confusion about what I am about to tell in the story. So here some more points that will light it up again:

- The sattelite is supposed to be found long time before 2150. And it's supposed to hand over knowledge to mankind.
- The satellite KI was developed in the 2150s for exactly this one purpose. No super - KI, that tries to destroy the world in the end. But smart enough to do this job.
- There is a reason, why the satellite was send back in time, supposed to be found decades before it was send. I know the reason. No need to discuss about this topic here.

One of them will be the satellite - AI. - The purpose of the AI is, to controll the handover of future technology to the mankind today. This purpose is not gonna be told in the first half of the story. - The second half of the story will deal with another 2 information stores on the satellite (besides the video-storage). One with technology from the 2150s (and later!). Another one with information, what else was send back into time. The AI is handling these information and will not give them out all at once. So far. This might answer the question is timeline flexible, parallel, looped or fixed. I'm interested in what does the AI know about the history 2015 - 2150. Is it sent here to prevent the worlds end at 2150? and if it fails, they'll just send it back again. DY: my point is that causing a time flux might be what they (the senders of the satellite) are tying to do

I neglected to say that the superior intelligence and design of the satellite would kick in the contingency plan to stop the retrieval back to earth. If the ESA and NASA did know about it from documentation and the video footage found back in 2150 when the satellite was brought back. Would this not introduce a causality or a paradoxe in the future, or possibly time fluxes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_travel#Time_travel_to_the_past_in_physics

DY : Unless the the purpose of the satellite is to be discovered in 2015. the people of 2150 would know that it was discovered. Unless the governments, ESA and NASA keep it under wraps. Is the satellite fulfilling history or set to create alternate time line? There is much potential both ways.

Sorry to pick at things but..... In 2015, the ESA discovers a sattelite somewhere in space approximately half way between Earth and Mars. And it seems to watch the earth. With support from the NASA, they're getting the sattelite down to earth and start to examine it. They succeed. And they find out the most unbelievable things they could imagine. If this satellite is from 2150 would the AI (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artificial_intelligence) not be off a high superior intelligence and design. Who ever sent the satellite would of had a contingency plan if it ever got discovered back in the past. But this could be a side plot to the story
