Preordained > Working out the main/sub plots > French Revolution
by: Tomáš Pytlík

I've always been fascinated by the period of the French Revolution. So maybe something like this: It's spring of 1790 and the revolution is in full swing. In the countryside fanatical peasants despoiling castles and attack royalists. Somewhere in France lives one marquis with his family. They are royalists. They have always been loyal to king knowing, that he's wrong. But they aren't bad people. Marquis always wants the best for his people. He just believes in kingdom as a system. In nearby country one cruel, fanatic farmer and revolutionist (Cody) forms a Republic guard. It's simply a bunch of bloodthirsty peasants. Farmer proclaims that old marquis and his all family must die (in the name of Revolution!). They attack and burn the castle. But they don't find marquis or the family. Young maid (Stevie) helps them escape. She wants to help them get to the harbour and sail to England. She disguises them for common people and they get to the road. They must hurry, because furious leader of Guard (still Cody to be clear) chases them and hunts them like animals. When they finally get a harbour, maid finds accommodation for them at a small local trader. She goes out to find a ship or some kind of travel to England. At the night arrives also leader and his Guard. They begin to threaten and intimidate people. Trader gets scared and betrays maid. When she comes back, she finds a family in a pool of blood. Leader kills them all. Marquis, his wife and their four children. It's a simple first draw, moment idea, but maybe helps you develop better story from those times.

I have the basic premise for the story. The subplot(s) will be the progression of the past lives and how they directly affect the present one. I know I want to address the European witch hunts in the 17th century and the women who disguised themselves as men and fought in the American Civil War. I'm looking for stories of prejudice and bigotry to show a progression of how Stevie, my main character, discovers her past life experiences, as men and women, oppressors and oppressed, and comes to terms with it all in the present life by defeating the one person, Cody, who has been the leader of it all in the past lives. In past lives, she didn't stop him before he committed acts against others. In some, she actually took part in it. In this life, she has to stop him to pay her karmic debt and save those who would fall victim to him. I want to take advantage of the world wide web's potential and opportunities in filmmaking by making this a truly international project, addressing issues from all over the world and well as, eventually, making it an international project in filming it. So I want to know from people from all countries who read this post and are interested in taking part. What are the karmic debts from your history that can be addressed in this lifetime?

There's one very good film about witch hunts in czech lands. It's called Kladivo na carodejnice (Witches' Hammer, 1970). I believe, that you can easily get it even with english subtitles. It's very suggestive and historically accurate film about those times. One of major characters are cruel inquisitor (which could be good as inspiration for the past life Cody) and priest, which tries to stop all these madness (past life Stevie maybe?)

As she finds out about her past, why not use a sort of flashback to show what her other selves had done over the years

I'll use flashbacks to show the other lives to show her in her lives as a victim of the European witch hunts and another as a woman who fought in the American Civil War. I'm looking for other possible past life plots to also use in flashback. It means casting more actors to play the different past lives, but working shouldn't be such a bad thing for an actor :). Thank you so much for your help. It's great to put my idea out there and already see interest and input.

Thanks for the link. It does help. We had the Salem Witch hunts here in the U.S., but people who learn about their past lives typically learn that they lived all over the world, so I thought I should include past lives in other countries. That's why I wanted to explore the European witch hunts.

Angela Shafer created a new production "Preordained"

* I am a screenwriter, not a filmmaker, though I do enjoy playing with cameras. I'm looking for filmmakers who are willing to work with me on getting this made. This synopsis has been changed from the original one I'd posted that focused more on past lives. The Astral Plane, Akashic Records, Soul Agreements, Spirit Guides, and the things I will explore in this script is a whole other thing.

If the Karmic belief is true, that we choose our families, our relationships, life lessons to learn, our careers, and...our deaths...before we're born, does that include murder?

While investigating a young woman's murder, small town newspaper reporter Stephanie "Stevie" Rigby is attacked in the newsroom. After recovering from the attack, Stevie is traumatized not only by the attack, but also the paralyzing fear of knowing she had no memory of the attack that could help the police identify her attacker, who is also possibly the murderer. For help, she turns to her best friend, Marcie, who, under the name Angelsong, makes her living doing psychic, astrological, tarot, and past life readings. Marcie is also a licensed hypnotherapist who Stevie asks to hypnotize her so she can remember her attack and, she hopes, identify her attacker. What Stevie finds, however, is another existence called the Astral Plane, where a whole other world exists alongside the Earthly Plane. Here, she meets creatures she thought were only in fiction novels and movies, like vampires, werewolves, and even dragons. Here she meets Jill, her Spirit Guide who acts as her sort of fairy godmother to inspire, guide, teach, and even warn her, though Stevie doesn't always listen. With further visits to the Astral Plane, Stevie finds the Akashic Records, a great library filled with books documenting every life, past, present, and yet to be, on earth, as well as every piece of literature, art, and song ever created. She finds her own Akashic Record, detailing her life's accomplishments and Soul Agreements, in which she planned, before her birth, her present life. In her Soul Agreement, she discovers that she chose her parents, her career, every relationship, and...her death. She can't bring herself to read about her chosen death, but she begins to wonder, if we all choose our deaths, does that include murder? As she unravels her own Akashic Record, she explores the question of what is chosen, or not, and what she is meant to do in the present life to fulfill her Karmic Soul Agreements.
