O.R.C - Open Roleplay Concept > Concept art graphics, cover page graphics, page decorations, design > WIP version without graphics
by: Jesse Kaukonen

Here's the WIP version of the entire text. All graphics are missing, but a friend of mine promised to do a map for pages 15-16. C&C welcome.

Oh gosh. This helped me notice/remember I still haven't found the time to finish reading this one... *blush*

I'm no graphic designer but I think the page layouts where two images meet in a kind of "L"-shape are strange... Wouldn't it be better to reformat the text to maybe get just one big, half page image or have some text divide the two images? Everything else looks really solid at first glance, and you can feel there was a lot of work & time put into this. And congratulations on the name, glad I could help ;D Cheers, Kalle ^_^

**O**pen **R**oleplay **C**oncept Well probably something like that exists already... I'm not really that much of an RPG fan except for sinking the occasional 70+ hours into Oblivion or Dragon Age ;D

I went for this. I also got the first test game played and did severe editing on numbers / rules. The second game starts next week if all goes well, and hopefully we'll be getting some graphics soon after.

I like this a lot. Might use this if there are no other systems by this name.

O.R.C - Open Roleplay Concept > Name the system > A logical approach...

I am going to be boring and write lots (for the second time actually, since the browser crashed just as I was posting the shot!) but I feel that you could benefit from some general tips on title creation for manuals which I have used in the past. Of course, this does not mean you have to agree this is a valid method. But it is one that can be used, **if** you like it. 8) In short (hahaha, kidding), go and seek some online thesaurus for synonyms of the words used to describe what you want to present. In your case: the name for a **book** describing a **flexible** **fantasy** system where you can meet all the possible clichés to **create** and tell your story. Which, to someone not interest in RPGs, translates as **jargon**. Then, one by one, you can start to make a selection of synonyms you like: **Book**: atlas, bible, codex, compendium, diary, dissertation, encyclopedia, essay, handbook, lexicon, manual, omnibus, scroll, textbook, tome, vade mecum, vocabulary, volume, workbook **Flexible**: advanced, all around, compliant, free-form, liberal, open The word **Fantasy** is probably best kept since it is the genre. **Creation**: concoction, fabrication, improvisation, invention **Jargon**: abracadabra, gibberish, lexicon, lingo, mumbo jumbo, nonsense Done this, you can finally start mixing and matching, trying to create acronyms that mean something else (possibly related) or even just picking words that look or sound good together: **ELFS** - **E**ssay on **L**iberal **F**antasy **S**torytelling **FFFF** - **F**ree-**F**orm **F**antasy **F**abrication **COC** - **C**ompendium on **F**antasy **C**oncoction

Thanks a lot. I'll make sure to consider revising some of the content into a less bland style. That's precisely what I lack as a writer :)

Currently the book has no name at all. Think of a good name for a flexible fantasy RPG where you can meet all the possible clichés.

In short (hahaha, kidding), go and seek some online thesaurus for synonyms of the words used to describe what you want to present.

In your case: the name for a book describing a flexible fantasy system where you can meet all the possible clichés to create and tell your story. Which, to someone not interest in RPGs, translates as jargon.

Then, one by one, you can start to make a selection of synonyms you like:

Book: atlas, bible, codex, compendium, diary, dissertation, encyclopedia, essay, handbook, lexicon, manual, omnibus, scroll, textbook, tome, vade mecum, vocabulary, volume, workbook

Flexible: advanced, all around, compliant, free-form, liberal, open

The word Fantasy is probably best kept since it is the genre.

Creation: concoction, fabrication, improvisation, invention

Jargon: abracadabra, gibberish, lexicon, lingo, mumbo jumbo, nonsense

Done this, you can finally start mixing and matching, trying to create acronyms that mean something else (possibly related) or even just picking words that look or sound good together:

ELFS - Essay on Liberal Fantasy Storytelling

FFFF - Free-Form Fantasy Fabrication

COC - Compendium on Fantasy Concoction
