One Man's Life Work > Character Development - Craig Jonathon Jackson > What is Craig Jackson like as a person?
by: Matt St. Amand

People are taught from an early age to be wary of strangers, so I'd wonder what it was about this particular stranger that broke through that socialization. Moreover, I'd wonder why Craig accepted what the stranger said. Considering the detail and how far into the future the stranger's knowledge and advice goes, I could see Craig having a hard time believing any of it. Maybe he stumbles into a few things and then on reflection sees the stranger was right. For instance, maybe without even thinking about it, Craig takes the courses high school recommended by the stranger and they turn out to be his strongest subjects. Then, upon reflection he is reminded of what he'd been told and seeing how that part of the "prophecy" came true, gives some other advice from the stranger a try.

One Man's Life Work > Character Development - Craig Jonathon Jackson > What other questions should we be asking
by: Matt St. Amand

What is it in Craig's life that makes him so open to listening to a stranger's predictions that reach for into his future? How would this stranger establish credibility with Craig so that his predictions would be taken seriously? What would happen if Craig tried to use his knowledge for vast personal gain or the purposes of vengeance? For instance, if part of the prediction involved him working for a very successful company, he'd know to invest in that company even before he went to work for it. Having foreknowledge as extensive as that which is revealed to Craig heaps a ton of responsibility onto him. Is he up for that challenge? Does he buckle under the temptation to use his knowledge selfishly.

Thanks for the shots. I'll be starting to collate some information over the Christmas break and be giving more active feedback over the coming weeks.

First I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the project.

Times have been very tough for my family the last 6 months, which has created a situation where i have dropped the ball on a lot of my personal projects.

This is now set to change.
While I cannot devote the time I would like to the projects, there will definitely be more of a push to keep things up to date, and get reconnected with the community that has so kindly pushed my agenda forward, without my direct involvement.

Stay tuned for more updates in the very near future, as I continue to "get my ducks in a row", I'll be making a much bigger effort to get things back on track.

Craig will be a generally good person. Largely because his life plan seems to show him making benevolent decisions, and also because he needs to prove to the world that he's not only good because he has been told he will be.

He will also be brave, as he knows that whatever he does with his life, he will inevitably be led to certain decisions. This means he'll probably be outgoing, not afraid to be adventurous because fate has a plan for him.

He used to rebel against the decisions, at one point postponing a decision and leaving it to a flip of a coin. However, even though the coin read to go against his fated decision, Craig chose it anyway... possibly due to a close relationship with someone with a neurological disease, who he hopes the decisions will lead him to help.

I might be cool if there was a person in his life, someone he hurt as a result of making a decision, and hopes subsequent decisions will rectify, or someone who gives him a reason to continue on his fated path.

Once Craig accepts/sees that the stranger was correct about his predictions of Craig's future, I'd imagine it would become very difficult for Craig to make decisions or possibly think for himself, having had access to this unusual oracle as a youth.

I would imagine Craig being very indecisive about things that fall outside the boundaries of the stranger's predictions.

Or, maybe Craig looks to other people to be like the stranger. He might rely on friends or girlfriends to direct him in ways that make them uncomfortable.

Craig would have strong professional and academic connections, but again, anything that falls outside what he was told by the stranger might be a complete puzzle to him.

People learn through their mistakes, through trial and error. The stranger eliminated this for Craig, pointing the way for him. So, in other facets of life, Craig would probably have very under-developed decision-making skills.

One Man's Life Work | Breaking the silence
It has been too long... You know it has, when people from around the word start to give you little prods and pokes... "Are we there yet?" No. The last couple of months have been very full-on for me and my family, and as a result, the first things to be affected were my personal projects. Now that life is starting to calm down, I have managed to find some time to take stock. Flux Singularity is now sitting on it's own server, giving me more flexibility in how and when I work on the system. It will have it's own ".com" up in the next week or so with more accurate news as to the current progress. Some minor work has been done in regards to the overall cohesiveness of the story universe for One Man's Life Work with tie-ins to other story lines I have had on the back burner. Some of these details will be made available in the coming weeks. While my focus will still be firmly on the development of Flux Singularity, I am finding myself at a point where I can dedicate at least some time to the universe creation and fleshing out of the existing story lines, so these details will also be released in the very near future. Keep an eye on this, as well as The Shed Collaborative for more information and tasks in the coming weeks. Thanks for your patience. Justin

No worries, and many thanks for the update! It is good to know the production is still open. Just a matter of taking the time needed for real life, of course. First things first, so the best of luck with all of your personal matters!

The basis behind One Mans life work and the Flux Singularity system, is to turn the information and stories into a perpetual and self managed fictional universe. The idea is to allow anyone to be able to expand on the characters and stories to help flesh out the universe behind the stories. With this in mind, the more information we have available, the easier it is for someone to add their own paths and stories.

What sort of information do we need, as a minimum, for characters and general character development?

Categories of infomation I have ideas about so far are:

General Bio
Family and Associates
Career and education

What else do we need?
