Nexus > The other solar system > the aliens are us by: Anna Pekuri
The comment above gave me an idea. How about if the whole thing is from the aliens perspective? I mean the movie would obviously start or at some point show the earth and the black hole thing but how about making the planet in the other galaxy the main "character/place" etc. So the movie could actually start by showing the everyday life on the other planet and then suddenly one morning when "aliens" (lets call them fluffies and earth people aliens, just so that it wouldn't be so confusing) wake up they notice that there is an other planet right next to their. What kind of reaction will that start in the planet? What will they do now that other aliens (earth) is sharing their space? What will they do or what should they do? Are the aliens good or bad? The fluffies would be thinking all of those things and basically movie could show how would they react when suddenly their lives are changed by our (aliens) mistake and sudden appearance. It could also take quite funny turn or have comical bits like both of the races would have argument (or disagreement) about which ones are the aliens, both planets insisting that the other planet is the alien one etc.
Nexus > The other solar system > the aliens are us What about these guys, do they look like eachother, are they more advanced or less advanced then us, or the same?
What are their visions?

Nexus > The other solar system > No clue by: Timo Vuorensola
I've always been a fan of stories where aliens are really *alien*, and the gap between two completely different extraterrestial life forms - like Earthlings and some aliens from a distant galaxy - just have no capabilities of understanding each others. And they never will, no matter how much they try - the aliens remain alien, and there's no way bridging that gap.
Living in peace with that kind of neighbour would be interesting, a neighbour who doesn't even begin to understand the concept of "war" or "peace".

Yeah, that's another possibility. It would take a lot of effort in design terms though if you were going to do this in a film.
I think Kubrick was originally going to show aliens in 2001 but then abandoned it because he didn't think it could be done realistically (mind you he didn't have today's effects to play with).

Totally.
There's the 'Starship Trooper's' formula, the 'Enemy Mine' story, and then...
- yes -
which I think has a wide range of emotional touchstones besides 'spiritual' or 'predatory.'

Nexus > General Idea's > Space 1999 by: (null)
Sounds like the plot of Space 1999, where the Moon (including a base on it) gets thrown into another part of the galaxy:

Don't worry, you didn't miss much. As you can probably tell from the intro it wasn't very good, but it did have a similar plot to your idea (the idea is good though!).
Apparently Space 1999 was the sequel to another series called UFO which is wonderfully camp:
