July was one more busy month here at the office! This month workhours have been spread thin between game content for the first level, promo materials (for the Wreckamovie festival) and planning/managing. Some picks from July's progress:
Plot content
Our first priority has still been to work on the first playable level:
- All character types now have a test storyline for the level based on bits and pieces of their actual stories in the final version.
- All major NPCs seen in the first level have been designed.
- All of the said NPCs also have some working dialogues and/or polylogues.
- Dialogue system has been tweaked even further under the hood to fix bugs and allow us to use some new tricks.
...but we've also made some progress on the overall game:
- We've now got a more or less complete listing of the military structure within the base (who serves under whom, who is responsible for what).
- All main plot branches are now completely designed, next it's time to work on the side quests and main quest implementation.
PR
We attended Wreckamovie Festival, where we premiered our teaser trailer and our first two 1940s style promotional comic shorts that will add to the backstory of the game (see previous news post for more info about the Festival). Both the teaser and the comics will also appear online in the future, I'll be sure to post a news update on it as soon as I get green light to publish them. :)
Management
During the last week or so we've moved over 800 tasks to a new task tracking system aimed to make management less time-consuming in the future - next big task on that front is to re-evaluate the schedules to set deadlines for different tasks based on our future milestones.
Graphics
Like last month, our in-house the graphics team has made great progress and we've also received a couple of models from the community. (Thanks Jonathan!)
We also fixed an animation problem on the code front, so we're now all set for some serious testing in the game engine.
Community
Last couple of weeks has seen some very welcome activity here in WAM, we've got a nice bunch of good ideas and suggestions in a very short time. Keep up the good work! Also, special thanks go to Carl for some English-to-German translation help for pieces of text to be used in the third promo comic. :)

Comments
Glad to be of help to you. :) Cant wait for the promo materials to be realised.
Angela: Thanks once again! :) I'm looking forward to getting the permission to post the comics, hopefully it'll be sooner rather than later!
David: Hard to say exactly when, probably not this month but if things go smoothly we might have some presentable ingame screenshots/video to show in September.
Always pleased to read about the game's progress. Carry on the great work - cannot wait to see the third promo comic! XD
When will be any preview of the game environment? :)
