Status report for May
| Posted May 31, 2010 by Matti Delahay 3 Thumb-ups |
While I was personally somewhat incapacitated by a nasty flu for 1,5+ weeks in the beginning of the month, overall the month has been a success.
Level implementation
The level creation process that I wrote about in the last status update is proceeding ahead expectations! Together with the level Risto did earlier, we've now got basic geometry for 5 levels ready. We've tested one of them in game engine as well with no problems, naturally we'll still have a lot of tweaking to do when we get to the point of adjusting cameras & zoom distance. The floor we tested will also serve as a test level we'll focus on to have a finished and functional level to test things such as plot content with, so we've got lots of NPC:s, plots and models to make next. :)
General progress
Still working from our temporary quarters (the maintenance at our regular office has gone overtime), we've made some steady progress on several aspects of the game including GUI, inventory system and character development. In addition, we've made more content (NPC:s, plots, more accurate level designs) and finalized designs on various other things
We're naturally still very eager to include ideas and content from the community, so keep posting! Matti #2 just posted a task that lets you suggest tasks you'd like to see in the community, so feel free to tell us what YOU'd like to help us with: http://www.wreckamovie.com/tasks/show/1310 :)
Finally, we've been working some more on upcoming PR publications, some of which will go public in the immediate future, so stay tuned!

Very brief but noteworthy update:
The writer team started work today on the implementation of the first actual playable game level in Blender. We have designs ready for all the levels and Risto has made one almost finished level before, but this one will be the first one that we'll be testing other game content with as well (dialogues, NPC:s, quests,...).
As the result of this step, I updated our production status (on our info page) from "Development" to "Production. Stay tuned on more updates on our progress in this new phase. :)

Update: Maintenance at the office
| Posted May 03, 2010 by Matti Delahay 2 Thumb-ups |
As I posted in the previous news item, we're currently staying at temporary headquarters due to some maintenance performed at our regular offices (they're drilling a pipe through our entrance hall). We feared this would cause at least a temporary lack of Internet connection, but luckily we already managed to arrange a working connection here at the new place. This is very lucky indeed, since we'll be staying here the whole month instead of one week. :)
We've got most of the hardware (and people) in place here now, the place is starting to look like you could actually work here.

[Update: http://www.wreckamovie.com/productions/ironskyoperationhighjump/news/591 ]
We're staying at temporary quarters this week due to some maintenance performed at our regular offices (they're drilling a pipe through our entrance hall). This will most probably have an impact on our network connections, so it may be that we won't be seen here at WAM that much. I'll try to answer all comments and inquiries as quickly as possible, but you may notice some extra latency.

Angela: I'll do my best to keep you people updated, I know from experience how boring it can be when you follow some supposedly active production and there are no news updates in months. :S
Lukas: We'll try to get some level graphics here sooner or later, for now individual item examples can be found in the graphics examples we posted for the 3D-modeler guidelines.
Thx 4 Update!
Would be nice to see some screenshot sketch to get a better idea what the game will actually look like.
Always good to hear what's going on behind the scenes, thanks for the update!
