You've probably already noticed that we released a new teaser last friday titled "We come in peace".
If you haven't here it is:
And as always, spread the good word and help us make up our lack of marketing budget with awesome buzz :)

We've finished the shoot of Iron Sky in February, and have returned back to home from Australia. Since then, Energia has been working very hard on the CGI, and me and Suresh Ayyar - our editor - have been editing the film. The musicians (Laibach) are about to start their work quite soon. Things are rolling on nicely, and we're eyeing 2012 release - no date is set yet, but we'll let you know as soon as we have something more accurate on that.
A bunch of big post production tasks are to follow, so stay tuned!

Greatttt..............
How can I work for this movie? Can I do that? I'm a Graphic Designer from Portugal, and I like this movie very much! Can I make the publicity (design) for my country? I can translate from English to Portuguese to!

where in Australia?
Just watch out for drop bears, the Koala's carnivorous cousin ;-)
Watching now... and gosh, Energia sure has made some huge steps since Star Wreck... 8)
Wow this huge studio is awesome :D
(Austin Powers and the Van Damme Street Fighter poster aren't too shabby either, hehhe)
I mean how cool is that... a gigantic indoors playground for filmmakers - next to a theme park!!!
Considering these facts, I predict massive asskickery is going to take place on that site 8D
Teaser 2 is out! See the first footage from Iron Sky.

Here it is finally: the first footage of Iron Sky has been released! If you follow our blog, you might remember that we had one shooting day in the city of Tampere in March. We filmed some footage which we used to test out our workflow – footage, which you will see also on the finished movie.
We took some of that footage, built a teaser out of it, and here it is!

i can almost not on the film waiting to come out in the cinema!
please film quick and good. i am a big fan of war films.
I like the idea of keeping the Nazis in that 1940's look....while up teching them enough to be a plausible threat to moden day Earth..I guess being stuck on the moon isolated from new resources they were limited in what they had to work with so their fashion would have changed little.
Please don't make it too silly.....a decent balance between some scifi license and some plausible drama would please this fan.
This is FANTASTIC!! Have said it before but 2 thumbs way, way up for the costume designers!! It's evident that so much thought and time has gone into this! I'm warming up my seat in the cinema!
Nice! The music was awesome too, but I liked the original theme better.
Thanks, now I know. By the way, nice picture!
Alexander, you can see a better picture of the soldiers here, this was the shoot where they filmed the teaser:

Its awesome! Nice work, but the space suits of the soldiers seem to be having an air filter instead of a tube connected to a cylinder. Can someone please explain me what that filter-like thing is?
Bravo guys.. that is what I call Professional work. Good job.

OK. After i've praised it earlier, here's some critique:
- The upside down 'presents' is just dumb. There are better ways of showing this is a comedy - the 'kick some nazi arse!' -line is also silly but does the trick better.
- 'Send us your money' without any hint or explanation what that's about seems unrelated to the rest of the teaser. Something like 'support the war effort - invest in the film' would work better.
Otherwise it's pure Nazi gold...
thank you very much Dario! It was also this old melody: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyIUYN07sxM
Wunderbar!
Haah, I remember this Gutte nacht mutter von Wilhelm Strienz from my young ages...such a melancholy song... :))))))
Edit:
Now seriously: this is a 1938 record but the sound was extremely superb even from raw shelack disk which is amazing for that era. Those ancient Germans were really cared about technical quality.
Thanks! ;)
Here's the "promote the new teaser" task: http://www.wreckamovie.com/tasks/show/1247
I've watched the trailer several times and here's my input:
There are things I loved about the trailer, first and foremost the sound editing in the scene when the UFOs left the moon base. The mixing of a 40's style song with the sinister distant screeching of the UFOs' engines was a brilliant idea, and the contrasting sounds created just the right type of sense of foreboding. Also the UFOs arriving on earth has a lot of power to it. The use of music was once again great.
As for the CG, I found it to be good in itself, but I would recommend putting more work in the interaction between the CG elements and the live elements. I find it to be a great use of CG when you just don't quite see at what point there is a switch from live footage to computer generated. A good example of such is in, for example, Mission Impossible III, the scene where the mask is placed on Ethan's face. In the Iron Sky teaser you could kind of tell that the mechanic working on the landing gear was actually just waving the wrench against the bluescreen and that the landing gear itself was placed so that it covered this fact. It would have been an impressive use of CG if we saw the mechanic actually interact with the gear, before it retracted inside the UFO.
As for the visual style, I found it to be moody in a good way, but I hope you don't get too excited with stylizing the imagery in the movie. It is good to have a bit of yourself in the visuals, but making the scenes overstylized can work against the drama if there aren't many familiar elements for the audience to relate to. Very often an amount of realism in small and simple aspects can do wonders for the drama.
But all in all, it's a very exciting teaser, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the movie.
Thanks guys!
And Angela, you are absolutely right! We haven't been able to be online as much as we'd want this weekend. The guys are in Cannes, I was in Åland and Samuli was on a secret cabin in the woods...
Think I'll set up the task ASAP. We've got over 180,000 views, but there's still about a billion people on the Internet who haven't seen it ;)
Would be awesome to get half a million views within a week, but that would be quite an ambitious goal, I think Avatar got something like 4-5 million in that time.
Guys, shouldn't there be a new WAM task related to the promotion of this trailer, just like there was one in 2008 for the teaser? Yesterday I've spent the whole afternoon mailing Italian movie-blogs and magazines... and I bet a lot more fans would love to help doing the same around the world...
This footage together with Laibach music (veeery popular here in Croatia) looks and sounds absolutely magnificent!!!
:=| lives again :)
It looks great exept one thing...
If I may be so bold. When I see the boots walking at the beginning and when it switch over to the nazi marching they dosen`t seem to march the same way... but that´s just me being picky ;)
Anywho....The trailer looks awesome!
I don't know if they can change that, the voice over is part of the song
Looks good but if I'm critical, to me the voice over is too hard to hear.
LOL!
scene:
(kitten in comfy stuffed chair watching enthralling Trailer on inexpensive flatscreen computer monitor)
(awesome music plays)
(kitten and chair are both blown out of nearby livingroom window)
(quick shot: situation appears catastrophic, as glass, knick-knacks, kitten and chair fly through air)
(second quick shot: knick-knacks land and tumble on grass or smash on cement walkway, synchronized with awesome music)
(chair lands neatly on grass outside)
(kitten lands neatly upright in chair, blinks a few times, shakes itself)
(kitten dialogue: "HOLY SHIT THAT KICKED ASS! Let's do it AGAIN!")
(slow fade as kitten begins to drag chair back into house, bobbing head to the beat of the awesome music)
Ronen, it's the same as at the beginning, that's how B Mashina ends.
What's the music at the end of the trailer? When the Nazi's are coming towards Earth?
Laibach completely rules... I cannot stop being grateful to Timo for getting the idea to put the awesomeness of Laibach together with the awesomeness of Iron Sky...
The song ( "B Mashina" by Laibach ) is on Spotify by the way:
What is that old melody there playing at 1:05 for some seconds? More of that kind of music too, please, to make it a comic hit!
All Your Base Are Belong To Us!
;)
You make the movie as good as that teaser and there is no chance the movie will fail.
That song at the end is also great.
Holy crap
What do the Germans think of it? :/
Now this is funny... I'm watching this in a hostel in Stockholm, in a large dining hall. And I have some 30 Germans partying behind my back. I only wish I also had sounds available here to give a proper test presentation.
WAM!!! Awesomeness just hit me straight in my face!
So cool to see the WAM-produced titles, too! The community comes through, again, and is rewarded with this.
This was beautiful. ;___;
You guys are simply THE BEST. Nothing more can be said!
finally:
manly voice over.
It is awesame
Congratulations. The nazi-ufo takeoff is a magnificent sight.

looks great. love frankurt
Cant Wait
I do like the individual clips, don't get me wrong. The Zeppelin transport craft are really nice.
Just curious... is all the animation work done in Blender? Or is some other final production/rendering program in use? Such as Maya, etc?
It's pretty sweet! Great job Timo, to direct Udo to play with the zeppelin like a big evil child!
I would've loved to see the class shout the "we come in peace" -line, though. Now it kinda just ends too abruptly.
A little lacking in the shadow of the first two... But will spread it like the others.
