what? No Atlantis?

Atlantis did exist! However it wasn't in the atlantic, but in the mediterranean.
And it did not sink into the ocean, but was built on a 'dormant' volcano that blew it's top off. The island's remains sit off the coast of Greece, and are known as Santorini.
Back, about 6000 yers ago it was known as Thera. The Theran Empire was the thaumaturgical capital of the world. They erected three huge orichalcum pillars in order to stop the fall of mana, but after the mana had ebbed away it all ended abruptly on August 12, 3113 BC when the volcano erupted, and plunged the world into primal chaos.
Or something like that.

Not to pee on anyone's parade, or "belief", that Atlantis existed.

Plato's Atlantis was destroyed 12,000 years ago.

Plato's Atlantis was founded by Poseidon, and the God handed down a set of laws that the Atlanteans followed. When the Atlanteans started to worship false Gods, Poseidon sunk the continent.

FYI Atlantis was supposed to be larger than Libya and Asia put together, and filled with all the wonders that Plato could think of. Thera was a member of a group of islands known as the Cyclades, and they occupy 73 km2, which is hardly continental.

Plato's location of Atlantis was past the Pillars of Hercules (the Straits of Gibraltar).

There are suggestions that Atlantis was located in the Bahamas, the Azores, Crete, or your suggestion close to Santorini.

The only place where a continent, the size Plato outlined, would fit is the Azores, and there's nothing there.

Plato was known to put a moral point into his stories, and with the story of Atlantis it warns of turning your back on the Gods.

You could use the argument that Troy was thought to be a myth only 100 years ago, however the story of Atlantis differs from that of Troy in a very significant way. Atlantis was not part of any ancient oral tradition. It was not a legend passed down, by word of mouth, from generation to generation, over the centuries. It was the work of one man, Plato.

In a way I'm very happy that there's no credible evidence that Atlantis existed. It has allowed all sorts of excellent movies, TV series and plot devices for movies and TV series.

I think a film about Atlantis based on Plato's work would be very entertaining indeed.

Shadowrun was an interesting role play game. A combination of future tech with orcs goblins elves and trolls... like the fantasy films of the 70's.
