For Knowledge and Defense > Special Effects > Sky Replacement
I've started working on the lightsabers in Adobe After Effects, but there's many shots to be done. Anyone with access to After Effects who can roto a six-point mask would be helpful. Other special effects shots include: -Sky replacement: need to add storm clouds into the background. Shot with a clear blue sky. -Person/debris sent flying down an alley. -Interactive lighting from lightsabers onto actors/sets.

Hi

I noticed it has been a long time since you posted your project and no tasks have been completed.

Are you still interested in the sky replacement segment?

Would be happy to help.

Thanks
Mark

Hi Christopher :)

I'm not an effects artist so I can't help you directly, but you might want to try posting the shots you need as individual tasks, with links to the relevant files.

WAM tends to work best when people are being asked to perform specific tasks, especially if the tasks are described in great detail.

First, allow me to critique your trailer: SFX are not your problem: Despite the intensity, the dialogue comes off stilted. As a quick fix in post, in order to make the delivery seem more realistically spontaneous, I suggest simply editing so that replies fall more quickly after whatever they reply to, even perhaps slightly overlapping. Simply experiment until it just sounds more natural and believable. And in future, retain an acting coach.

Next, what follows are points I once might have believed to be obvious and implicit, but lately I discover to be controversial. I have conducted extensive personal research upon the subject of collective creativity techniques, and here are my explicit terms for participation as a writer: I seek what is nowadays called: nominal brainstorming, the writers bull session, throwing out ideas and hammering them into shape together, because such is the kind of working environment I most enjoy, and in which I write my best stories. Therefore, as idiotic as it sounds, it seems I actually need to ask: if I join in, participate and work together with you all, can I count on others to simply try to hold up each one's end of the conversation instead of quickly losing interest and trailing off from each new shot in turn? I ask, because this has been a problem, and any expectations of mine to the contrary are invalidated by consensus here on this forum. Please advise.

"For Knowledge and Defense" is a Star Wars Fanfilm based on the events of the 2002 fanfilm "To Know a Jedi".
"To Know a Jedi" carries a very simple premise: "What if?"
What if someone, in this case a Star Wars geek/physics grad named Will Green, discovered something no one believed was possible? How might this happen, how would it change him, and how would it affect those around him?
"For Knowledge and Defense" asks an equally simple question. "What happens next?"
Connor Larson was your average Star Wars fan. He enjoys the movies, but his fascination goes beyond, as he always enjoyed the books of the Expanded Universe more. He never asked to find the Force. The Force found him, through a woman named Aniqua, who possesses the only remaining guide to bringing these elements of Star Wars to life: Will Green's journal.
With this detailed volume, Aniqua teaches herself to build lightsabers and wield the Force, but she can't keep it to herself. She brings on two people who she feels would be helpful to her cause, Connor and his friend Michael Hinge. Hesitantly, they agree, and together the three of them train to better understand Will Green's success and failures. But what are Aniqua's intentions for them?
Along the way, Connor meets Skylar Young, a young woman who can never get her life to go in the direction she wants it to. She becomes a friend to him, and his grounding to a more traditional reality. As they grow closer, Connor begins questioning what is truly important to him in his life, and as he learns what happened to the man who wrote the journal, he wonders if he should leave Aniqua and Michael behind.
The question he doesn't ask is how they would feel about it.

I finished shooting this film over a year ago, however it's been languishing in post-production hell ever since. I've decided I should stop trying to undertake such a large task on my own and to look for some help in completing it. Hopefully Wreck-a-Movie will be able to provide some assistance in this regard.
