The flyer/poster above is in English, you can find a Finnish version here:

Right, it's crunch time and we now need to let as many people know about the Wreckamovie Festival as possible.

I've put together a poster/flyer based on feedback from the previous version. We don't really have time to wait any more, so unless there's a major problem with it let's just use it.

We can do a more detailed poster later as well, once we've got a few more details about the exhibitors confirmed.

Please print out and put this poster/flyer on as many public noticeboards as you can find, or give it away if you're attending an event related to films. BUT don't break any laws and don't upset anyone, make sure you have permission to do things before you do them.

Schools, universities, social clubs etc usually have some sort of event noticeboard, as do many cafes, bars, supermarkets and shops. If you're unsure, ask the owners if you can put up a poster.

There are four sizes to choose from ranging from full page to one sixth page.

We're already putting up posters, so probably time to call it a day on this task.

(null) > Who can come? > Maybe

Maybe, I have a big problem with sound, and finding a place to stay that works for me is hard. (Can't stand air circulation fans or refrigerators, and not getting enough sleep is like a head butt straight to my psyche.) But, if the Guests of honour are interesting enough I might come anyway. So would you please put the whip to whoever is in charge of translating the Finncon 2010 page into English?

Ok, we're going for the name "Wreckamovie Festival", as the Wreckamovie name is already mentioned in the printed programme for Jyväskylän Kesä.

Two things seem to be clear about the name "Wreckers Gathering":

-No one can remember it

-Finns have trouble pronouncing it

:-)

...so, would anyone object if we change the name of this event to something simpler and easier to pronounce?

The event's name hasn't appeared in print anywhere yet. The only printed guide (the Jyväskylän Kesä guide) talks about the event but doesn't mention its official name at all.

Edit: Originally I thought WreckCon but it was pointed out it could get mixed up with the much larger Finncon, which could cause even more confusion.

With that in mind, I'm going to suggest "Wreckamovie Festival", as the Jyväskylä Kesä guide uses the name Wreckamovie to describe the people organising the event. Would that be okay?

I've just got back from a meeting with the organisers of Finncon and they say that they are looking for something to fill a small screening room/mini-cinema they have on the site. There's also a bar next to it and a possibility of holding private workshops in a backroom. There is a chance we could have these for the entire Finncon weekend if required. Finncon typically gets thousands of visitors, and these are usually hardcore fans of the kind who can help to spread the word about things they find interesting. The amount of space we reserve at the event depends on how many Wreckers are interested in promoting their productions. **You don't have to physically be there to promote a film!** We can handle placing posters and displaying videos etc on your behalf, but we do need you to indicate interest now, so that we can plan the event and book the spaces in good time. Your production can be in any state (development, pre-prod, prod, post-prod, released etc) as long as you have something interesting to display about it. Almost anything can be displayed as promotional material: -Trailers, teasers, making-of videos -Posters, leaflets, flyers -Props, models, other objects -Anything else which is displayable There is also the possibility of selling merchandise for anyone with a production that has such things available. There is a Finncon shop which can handle all the retailing on your behalf in exchange for a 10% cut, or you can sell your own merchandise directly if you are present at Finncon. **We could potentially take over a very large part of the convention if there is enough demand**, but we need to know now if you're interested for this to happen. We have to show the organisers that we can fill whatever display space we are allocated. So, please post a shot here if you want your production promoted, or contact me for further details if something is unclear.

David, yes I did, sorry I forgot to tell you earlier. I'm not completely sure about the accommodation so don't book anything yet, but I'll be in touch.

Ok, thanks David! The poster isn't final, I can add that to it.

Jani Salomaa has designed the Wreckers Gathering poster, and I've added a film strip at the side with images from various WAM productions to get across that this is a movie-related event. I've tried to choose pictures from as wide a range of production styles as possible, with a variety of colours and shapes to make it aesthetically pleasing. However, this isn't the final version, so if you have any comments or suggestions to make then post a shot. Just a few points: -Jani's already said he will add a more exact date in the final version. -If you're wondering about the snakes, this is a parody of the Jyväskylä coat of arms. -The film images were pasted in by me, they would be much neater in the real version.
