Crossover > Idea for possible powers he could have that wouldnt require a whole lot of CGI, something new, not seen before. > Some low budget ideas
by: Sami Laulajainen

the force type stuff. (star wars) - Easy hand gesture -> Something huge happens. (Vader strangling people) - speed the actor (speeding the film, be careful when shooting out doors) - to see while blindfolded. He might be able to mentally link into an animal and see and hear what the animal sees and hears (eragorn) Unique things are hard to find since almost everything is already been done. I agree with Jason. Start writing the plot and when the hero is in an tight spot he can't get out, invent the superpower that he can. Manipulating elements (earth wind fire water), technology, biomass, life, soul, ect. Making something new out of the materials at hand. I don't mean macgyver- type stuff, but alter the molecular structure of things.

Iv'e already made up the power and i'm going for the " Force " manipulation thing. Being able to tap into the hidden energies that surround us. The Hand gesture and someone goes flying backwards stuff. But the bad guy, Rictor will have the same powers plus teleportation. There will be a twist on it all at the end that I don't think everyone will see coming.

Come up for possible ideas or suggestions for any powers or superhuman abilities he may have. I would like him to have no more than 2 or 3 distinct abilities. Try to make them original, not the usual powers you see in movies. The story on how he got them is right now down to 2 different possibilities. 1.) He was given them by a secret government cabal experiment using alien DNA (this will be the only reference in the movie to aliens, that they found a crashed space craft some time in the past with 2 bodies. they used the DNA and technology for all modern technology and DNA for cures, deadly viruses and hybridization) later on he will do battle with other hybrids like himself if we go with this theory. they can be given different abilities if you wish. 2.) He was found as a baby in the future, in a crater. His parents are unkown to him and the viewers. We leave it up to the viewer where they came from. Divine intervention? or something else?

Crossover > Posters, Advertisements and Character Designs > Here's some Concept art for the bad guy Rictor
What would your ideas of poster's, advertisements or sketch/designs for characters be. If you can, create a small poster for the movie with any artwork, designs, or taglines on it you want. This is just to get a broad idea of what it may look like. heres some info to create from: main character is Nathan Cain, tall, white, short buzzed brown hair, thin, fit build. Has powers to move things with his mind, Telekenesis. His team of men are named "The Vipers" their all disgruntled ex-military types led by their leader, James Thomas. There are 7 of them counting Nathan and James. The bad guys are part of a group called "Cabal". They consist of many "drone" soldiers dressed in all black with black masks. They are led by Rictor, an evil man with a mysterious past. Their is an evil cyborg named Walker as well he looks human with a huge build. What might the Cabal Insignia look like? Their are a few super powered fights as well as one between the main character and the cyborg, Walker. Good Luck!

New task: Need CGI work done

Does anyone know anyone who is able to do really good CGI work? Or can do good CGI work yourselves? I'm learning to use After Effects for small things but need help with the big special effects.

Anyone who is experienced with green screen, I could use some advice on how to go about it successfully.

Anyone who is up for the job, if you could just make up a quick CGI photo or video, based on CROSS/OVER, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

-Alex

Crossover | The Re-Write
We have finally finished the re-write. It seemed like it would never end! Still trying to shore up some financing. I have my crew together and have been searching and prospecting for actors. Other News: The Storyline has changed some, instead of time travel, we are now dealing with dimensional travel. It's almost the same thing with the physics of time travel being dimensional and all, ( The fourth dimension = Time, So traveling through time is travelling into another dimension ) More or less i'm changing it to alternate realities. The hero trying to stop what happened in his reality from happening in ours. Let me know what you think!

In the script, it has to do with the bad guy, Rictor, making a portable machine that allows him to walk through realities. The hero follows him through his portal and ends up in our reality. This is going to be a character driven piece. Kind of like the tv show " Lost ". More character development than straight action. There will be action just not as much. Similar to the movie " Push ". It will explain and show what the differences in realities are.

The different reality thing feels fresh. Just have to explain to the audience exactly what/where those realities are. Do you in your story give a picture to us that everybody are able to move from one dimension to another, or is this only possible for heroes with exceptional skills?

A split screen - on the right the future and on the left the present with Nathan Cain passing between the two, either walking or floating.

A bewildered amnesiac discovering strange super powers comes to believe that he is a time traveler from a bleak future that must be prevented at all costs.

Crossover > Come up with ideas for the terribly dark and bleak future > Sun giveth, sun taketh away

The world is already unstable. The economy is tanking, unemployment rises, public discontent as well. A badly timed solar flare knocks out a large proportion of telecommunication satellites and terrestrial power distribution networks; cascades of failures (redundancy? What redundancy?) blackout entire countries for days, some areas for weeks. Cities, now full of people and with disabled infrastructure, in few days break into chaos. Global economy, losing its main financial centers and with most of its communication lines severed, undergoes cascade failure; some of the centers recover but too late to resume business as usual. Latent tensions between several nations escalate into regional wars, as leaders fueled with ambitions and wishful interpretation of incomplete intelligence seize perceived opportunities, and cascade out of control like a bar brawl; limited but sufficiently intense nuclear exchanges (Pakistan vs India, perhaps Israel joining the fray and nuking somebody too? Can China get involved? ) may take place and cause a runaway in already destabilized weather patterns. Biological and chemical weapons may be used regionally as poor man's nukes. Nuclear winter sets in, with devastating results for agriculture, resulting in widespread famines and further intensifying conflicts, adding food and water into motivations for fighting. Couple years later, the world is a patchwork of relatively working city-state regions, Somalia-like failed states, glass parking lots, and deserted shells of cities. Technological development continues in enclaves with resources, with much larger allowances for risk and side effects as the stakes are higher now. Genetic/technological modifications of people aren't uncommon, mostly for military/paramilitary purposes. Areas low on technology are rich on violence, areas rich on technology are under constant surveillance as the power structures are attempting to reestablish themselves and prevent the always threatening order collapse. Good, bad, that depends on what side you're on. Each is just attempting to survive instead of the other one. There should be a few hinge points in the history on which the breakdown depends, which can be interrupted - whether by talking a person out of some action, blowing up some system in advance in order to prevent its use to escalate a conflict or to prevent it yielding data used to start one, etc.; a few power lines may be severed, e.g. by blowing up a couple high voltage pylons, to force a power station offline during a critical time to prevent more serious solar flare related damage to its systems, speeding up region's recovery to avoid cascading into a failed state. A not-exactly-important person may have to be killed before gaining importance. An information may be given at right time to right person to alter their decision. A phone switchboard may have to be blown up or forced to fail other way so a crucial communication does not happen. A reactor may be forced offline so the transformers are not energized when the flare comes. A redundant power line has to be severed so during the following cascade failure a region gets disconnected from the grid (so called islandization) instead of being pulled down like the others. Details like these, relatively small changes in a number of predetermined points in space and time. The hero may not have any really special superpowers; perhaps just eidetic memory, talent for handling high-complexity systems, and ability to see their hinge points where small changes have disproportionally larger effects.

Some themes for the apocalypse and its survival can be gleamed from the relatively little known 1984 movie "Threads". Some of the scenes could be borrowed as an inspiration. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Threads
