Mike Pohjola released announcement "E-book is out" for BOOK: Son of Man
Sonofman_cover_teksti2

We need people to visit the book's Facebook page, and hopefully Like it. It's a great novel and now we have to let people know about it. But how do we do that?

It's going to have some nice content before the publication - background photos, a map, preview chapters, snippets of all kinds... And of course reviews and the like after the book is out.

But how do we get more followers? Right now we have 171 Likes.

Some things you could do:
- Share the link on your Wall.
- Post the link to your blog, Twitter feed, Google+ status, and other places.
- Invite your friends to like the page.
- Like the posts and pics on the page.
- Like it when other people share the link on their wall.
- Write comments and questions on the Page Wall.
- Have other ideas? I'd love to hear them!

BOOK: Son of Man > Blog: The book is finished!
182 days ago | 0 Comments | 1 Thumb-up

The "world's first autobiographical Jesus novel" Son of Man is finished. It's laid out at 600 pages, and will go to the printers next Thursday. It will be published in Finnish in mid-September, 2011, by the publishing house Gummerus. Thanks to all who helped!

Clearly a novel is not the best medium for participatory creation, but on the other hand, this was just my first attempt, and still got some nice results.

The next step is to get as many people as possible talking about it, linking to the Facebook page, buying it, reading it, translating it into other languages...

Here's the Facebook page, which will have a nice new snippet every day before the publication.

Mike Pohjola gave a shot "Meta" for BOOK: Son of Man
Sonofman_cover_teksti2_thumb
BOOK: Son of Man > Name for a freaky character > Meta
What would be a great name for a supporting cast member for the book Son of Man? The guy is a freaky androgynous artist/activist/philosopher with punkish hair, facial piercings, tattoos, interests in occultism and graffiti. The setting is Finland in the early 2000s, but the name should preferably be international. I was thinking about calling him Trans (his original name would've been Frans and he would've changed it), but I fear it would lead the reader to only think of transvetism. Any suggestions? I know if there's a bunch of people who can think of freaky names, it's you!

I've chosen to call the character Meta. It seemed a bit too obvious at first, but I'm beginning to like it. One good thing is that it's not a male or a female name.

It also has lots of explanations aside from the obvious: The wife of Athens' mythical king Aegius, a genus of spider, it can be short for Methane, and so on.

Thanks for all who contributed!

BOOK: Son of Man > Recommend songs > Emo & Finnish music
by: Anna Krokfors

Alright, I won't be choosing music that I consider good or bad or even tolerable to listen to, just anything that goes with the themes you mentioned. Dystopia/judgement day: Project Pitchfork - In the Year 2525 (Laibach has the prettier version but the harsh sound fits better I think) Emo/depression/living in the 2000's/Jesus complex: KMFDM - Stray Bullet (also known as the Jokela amok run song) More emo: Jimmy Eat World - Cautioners Also, I notice a lack of Finnish music. First of all the indie rap artists: Steen1 - Sinisiä rappuja ja punaisia hintalappuja (featured in the movie Paha maa) Notkea Rotta - Maailma on rotta (this is hjuumor - but note the intertextuality to Pelle Miljoona) Then the classics you couldn't avoid in the 80's.. Dingo - Lähetyssaarnaaja Pelle Miljoona - Moottoritie on kuuma Hassisen kone - Jeesus tulee Sielun veljet - Tällä tiellä Leevi and the Leavings - Teuvo, maanteiden kuningas (edit: Poika nimeltä Päivi is probably more relevant..) Hector - Sudenkorento (a David Bowie cover!) Juice Leskinen - Paperitähdet Eppu Normaali - Vuonna 85 The few religion themed Finnish songs I could think of right away: Freud Marx Engels & Jung - Monenkirjava tilkkutakki Pekka Ruuska - Rafaelin enkeli

Fine list, Anna. Great job finding fitting Finnish music. I'm sick and tired of the artists, but many of the songs are just beautiful.

Well, the song Lapsuuden usko has been covered by several artists, it's originally '500 Miles' that was done by at least The Hooters. Just the version I happened to find.

I think it's kinda hard to identify with a character who seems to be nothing more than a forum nick.. I'd suggest Mike (yes that'd be intentional) or Juri/Yuri, but otherwise Matti or Valtteri, perhaps Meta.
