My brother painted something quickly and here's the result. It has few ships. If some of them is good, he can make another painting from it.

Here's the second painting. Joel made it so quickly that he forgot to add his signature :D

An animated Space Opera > Modelling spaceships > Amateur ship art
I realized, not being finished with the model of the Alien ship, that some help with modelling Earth fleet would be nice. This is a Creative Commons share alike project, the only payment you can get is your name/handle, your web/blog addresses and your contact details in the credits. Guidelines: All ships are to be capital ships and needs to look plausible. (If you happen to model an implausible ship, I would still be interested though, for alien ships in the background.) They can be sleek, but without silly things like wings and bridges that stick out. (Building a protruding bridge on a warship is asking for a railgun shell in the face...) The polycount needs to be quite low, so as not to make UV-mapping texturing a neverending job. Also, my laptop needs to be able to render multiple models in a scene in less than a day. Can't sleep with the thing on. No textures are needed as I will likely redesign them anyway to fit the style I am going for. I wouldn't mind if there is an UVmap done, though empty. The format needs to be Blender compatible. Gun emplacements need to be a separate object with the ship as parent. Ships from the Crest/banner of the stars Anime is a nice source of inspiration for what I have in mind. http://www.japanator.com/~japanator/elephant/ul/3194-550x-lotgh3.jpg http://www.abhnation.com/components/com_mambospgm/spgm/gal/SNS-02/SNS-02-12.jpg http://www.abhnation.com/components/com_mambospgm/spgm/gal/SNSII-04/SNS2-04-08.jpg http://www.abhnation.com/index.php?spgmGal=SNM-01&option=com_mambospgm&Itemid=169#

David Jansson gave a shot "Modified description of Eartgov" for An animated Space Opera

An animated Space Opera > Redefine earthgov - give me your insights into information politics > Modified description of Eartgov
In the current draft of the story Earthgov are obvious badguy antagonists, this doesn't fit the story I am trying to make. The point of view that Earthgov represents in the current draft isn't as obviously evil as it is at the moment portrayed. Help me define an Earthgov that genuinely believes their view is in the best interest of all. Help me define their point of view in a way that makes it believable. Because I know that in the real world the issue is far more complex than the current story draft manages to convey. **The questions I need answers to are:** Why is market economy essential for freedom? If you agree with the need to contain freedom on the Internet to get at pirating and other more malign crimes, tell us your arguements. Otherwise, if you know someone you respect that believes in the need to contain freedom on the Internet to get at pirating and other more malign crimes, could you describe this individual, how he/she thinks and why you respect her/him? *Here is the current description of Earthgov:* Conservative, firm believers in the concept of market economy and that they know what is best for all. The most important, although unofficial, member is the minister of entertainment. His job is to make sure that society accepts what Earthgov deems to be best for them, be it through subterfuge, lies or manipulation. When reports of the Open galactic net starts to trickle in it is the minister of entertainment that is given the task to turn the Open galactic net into something to fear and organize against. And somewhere in the subtext you begin to wonder what really scares them, if it is a society where everyone is free to take any information they please, or if it is a society where anyone willingly gives and shares, making any rigid power structure obsolete.

Also, the first scene with Earthgov has been edited to fit its new aspects.
( See document Handlingen_organiserad.rtf attached to this task: http://www.wreckamovie.com/tasks/show/441 )

Earthgov:
Conservative, firm believers in the concept of market economy and that they know what is best for all. The most influential, although unofficial, member is the minister of entertainment. His job is to make sure that society accepts what Earthgov deems to be best for them, though Earthgov doesn't really understand that he does it through subterfuge, lies or manipulation. When reports of the Open galactic net starts to trickle in it is the minister of entertainment that compels Earthgov to believe that the Open galactic is something to fear and that there is a need to organize against it.
And somewhere in the subtext you begin to wonder what really scares them, if it is a society where everyone is free to take any information they please, or if it is a society where anyone willingly gives and shares, making any rigid power structure obsolete.

Thank you. I think I will follow your recommendations, they make a lot of sense. Though I can't give you a bigger version, I did this as quick as I could in the size it would be as a production poster. (No scanner was involved, just GIMP and a Wacom tablet.) I am pretty sure that the alien pin-up I had before gave people the wrong impression of this project and that it scared some away. So I finally decided that I had to get rid of it. Thus this ultra quick poster, just to get it done...

Nice art, and a nice slogan. I love the colors you've used. It has an unusual, but well-working composition.. I'd remove the eyes on the upper right. The handwriting is cool and airy, and it needs some space to 'breathe'. So try how it seems without the eyes and the white 'Do we?' Also, i'd post the poster in higher definition. Now it's just pretty small, and all posters have to work in at least A3 size. Just scan it at higher definion (like 1200 dpi, which is heavy for the cpu but real high def) and then save it as 42*29,7 cm at 300 dpi, or 3508*4961 pixels.)
