Hey everybody, I'd like to thank both Timo Airisto and Ray Barnes for their interest. I think I'm already on a good start to making progress very quickly. I have already shot some of the backgrounds around the city. This Wednesday, I'm driving to the Vasquez rocks (a popular shooting location for the original Star Trek series) to take pictures of the desert that will serve as the Martian landscape. I plan to share some samples when I get back. Next week I want to shoot some more around the city and maybe have everything done in the next three to four weeks. My actors all have the script and the means to do a recording session, but I'm holding off trying to schedule them until the script has gone through a couple of drafts. I'm excited about this opportunity and thank you to everyone participating.

Alejandro Kokke gave a shot "Voice Actor" for Aliens Today

Aliens Today > [Paid gig] $1100 worth of drawings and Adobe Illustrator work. > Voice Actor
The animation technique for the film is going to be Squigglevision, like Dr. Katz or Home Movies. There will be animated characters layered against live action still backgrounds of locations I'm filming (like Sit Down, Shut Up). I have a list of poses that the characters use in the script. Each pose is made of five consecutive in-color drawings that all look the same but have a wiggling effect when played in sequence due to slight delineations in the line drawing. You can draw it once as a "master" drawing and use Illustrator to manipulate the lines you drew to create four more of the same frame but with subtle differences in the line structure to create the wiggle. You have to know how to use Illustrator because I don't know exactly how it's done. I have only two characters in mind that need to look a certain way but I want you to draw them better than I do. Every other character I send to you is up to you to design based on what you read in the script. I have a list of every character and every pose in this format: Shorty [header] -------- -standing there [pose, 5 frames] -dumbfounded [pose, 5 frames] -amazed [pose, 5 frames] I'm trying to create a bank of poses I can keep going back to and recycle like a cheap animated series. I'm still shooting the backgrounds, but I will add jobs as I need characters in some special perspective or what-not. Sometimes I might need an extreme closeup, but every pose is assumed to be full body and hi-res so I can zoom as I need. I need a way to accomplish shadowing so you can manipulate it for different scenes. I want to pay $2.50 a frame, so each pose is worth $12.50 and I have maybe 150 or more poses of various characters I need to get done. I want to pay by paypal and pay you as you submit completed 5-frame sets via the internet. I can start paying as soon as January 20th. I need the pupils to be blank and drawn separately and mouths blank, with a bank of vowel and consonant "mouths" necessary for me to cover all of the script after I get the dialogue recorded. Someone else will do the lip syncing. Please submit to me via email or through here the level of work and detail you're willing to put in for the money. I'll then send you the list, and once I approve a design and you make the 4 jpegs you get paid. I pay as you go. I intend to spend between 1,000 and 2,000 over a 2 month period with pickups as I launch into the editing phase.

What you are describing sounds simple enough technically. Though in my case I think I would need to do it in Photoshop and After Effects. What you are describing is called "Puppet" which is a process that makes a layer flexible so it can be pushed and pulled to create new frames. I am relatively new to animation so I don't have any samples exactly as you describe. But here is a music animation I did in Photoshop and After Effects http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqBydMkgmbo and my online portfolio http://www.wix.com/uncaray/rays-portfolio so you can see I have the design skills you need. In answer to the question "How detailed can you make it?" I can only say, "As detailed as you like." Sincerely; Ray Barnes

Samuel Hawkins created a new production "Aliens Today"

This is a cross between the Odd Couple and 3rd Rock from the Sun animated like Dr. Katz or Home Movies. Two aliens from outerspace crash land on earth and must adjust to human life.
