Hey guys, after spending alot of time with AION, I finally realized that I want to see the story executed in a feature length film. As a short one, it would be a pretty cool retro SciFi-film that would be really gimmicky, but then as a feature film it could be one of the great Sci-Fi stories, a blend between Romeo and Juliet, There Will Be Blood, Solaris and 2001. I and Malte wrote a new final part for 5GOOBYES, a simple yet intriguing story called REVOLT, and we're hoping to shoot it at the end of July. After writing the screenplay, we also realized that it will fit much better for this project and is not as "overwhelming" and stand-alone as AION would have been. Hope you like where we're going. AION will definitely be back in future ;-) Keep up the support!

AION > HELP CREATING THE SPACESHIP AION > Just some thoughts on Spaceship Designs in Films
by: Anil Jacob Kunnel

I did some research on spaceship designs in films and I got a few ideas that I wanted to share:-) When people design spaceships and shuttles for films nowadays, they usually follow a similar pattern. It is basically more about recreating the spaceships and the mood from other films that we love, rather than to find new ways to tell a story. For AION, I always wanted to use the spaceship as an homage to other movies, but there is also the danger of making it too clichéd. The last hours, I have looked through actual NASA footage and what came to my mind was that we could probably achieve the mood of the film with a more current, more scientific and sterile look, something that doesn't look like something from ALIEN or STAR WARS, but gives it a new direction...These places are often sterile, laboratory-like, tiny rooms, packed with things - always giving a new depth to what intimacy means. They also don't have to been darkly lit, necessarily, but could be bright and still intimidating. What if we make the sets as tiny as possible, but extend the workspace into the height of the room? What if the actors could hardly move? wouldn't make it the whole experience more exciting, rather than using the ship like an old-school terror castle?

I was reading throught this after long time and now i get what Anil means in his "sterile, white" bit. And yes, there is actually a very good idea. Also it would be very "production" efective in a sense, i believe. I am quating this bit -> *What if we make the sets as tiny as possible, but extend the workspace into the height of the room? What if the actors could hardly move? wouldn't make it the whole experience more excitin* Took me sometime to realise what Anil might be after here.

I scribbled down a few walls, doors, pipes etc I might have met on my way through AION. Maybe this is inspiring for someone. I suppose more is to come.

Looks good, cept maybe the one on left middle, thats intresting, but i doubt such plating would exist anywhere :S Also if Anil has aproved the Octagon design idea,? You should maybe take that into concideration.

I like some of those designs. I might see if I can make any in 3D.

Looks nice! It really gets across a dark and rusted feel.

To prepare the production of GOODBYE5: AION I'd like to invite all the artists in the community to get inspired by the English translation of the screenplay and help with some concept art. I'm NOT looking for storyboards or a pure visualisation of the scenes, but for ART that is loosely or totally connected to the screenplay. It should have an emotional value, might it be coal, aquarell, photoshopped, a collage, a doodle or whatever. It is up to you! The spaceship look should NOT be all sci-fi with glossy spaceships and boring standard sci-fi architecture (we have already seen enough copies of Star Wars or Alien). Instead, the spaceship should have its own character. I'm thinking about a more industrial look, as if you could smell the coal burning in the engine. The air is humid, not everything is clean and sterile. Instead, AION is slowly falling apart, leaving the audience wondering whether we are really in space or on a lonely place on earth. The film will most likely be shot in an old industry hall. Think of the light, the smell, the feel. Try to think of new perspectives and ways to shoot in a no-budget surrounding. What does the film need to not look like a cheap wanna-be scifi and what does it need to make it original and special? In the end, just focus about Rosa and Rasputin and their journey. I would love to see art by professional artists, but also from people who just like to doodle at work. All works should be presented in black and white. Cheers and Kicks Pheadx
