In that day the comic will be on sell. Agustina comes on the market on 6th of March, at the same day when the Historic Centre takes in the presentation into the graphic novel society “in the funny and entertaining way”. The date of publication is not casual: “It is a birth’s anniversary of the Aragon’s heroine. It seemed sympathetic to do so in that day.”

As soon as the first print run will be ready, the graphic novel comes out initially in two languages: Spanish and English. “The English version will not be available in the shops but it will be possible to purchase, booking it through the web site and at some special places which have already asked for the graphic novel”. However, thanks to the triple distribution channel, the Spanish version of the comic will be possible to buy around all the country. “On the one hand the graphic novel will get to the specialized bookstores, on the other hand to Aragon and neighbouring bookshops and also to big national centres such as Fnac, El Corte Inglés, la Casa del Libro and Carrefour”.

THE PROMOTIONAL VIDEO OF ‘AGUSTINA’ WILL BE FILMED IN APRIL

Four Aragon girls were distinguished as Agustina de Aragon from the XXI century. After the first casting which took place in the ‘School of the Theatre’ in which 93 girls participated and after a selection through books and curriculums from dozens young, the number of girls have been reduced a lot. As the interest exceeded the initial forecasts, it is sure that the number will grow as there are still more girls to be selected. The 236 girls altogether are dreaming about being Agustina from the XXI century, a sexy and violent heroine, the actress of the Fernando Monzón y Enrique Mendoza comic’s promotional video.

This teaser, a germ which can be the future movie, will start to be filmed in the middle of April and the producer will be the Aragon Ingenio. “The target is to have the teaser done before May in order to present it at different festivals to find out if anybody will buy the idea”. That is why the deadline is emphasized. The first shots will be recorded at the Aljafería this weekend, during a battle of the Siege reconstruction and they will be used in the video. There are already first’s scripts: “We have two versions, one of them is short and it lasts 1,5 minutes, the other is the extensive one and lasts 4 minutes”. Although the fundamental location of the video will be Saragossa, there will be one scene where the river-bank is necessary. For that reason, there are three city council’s offers for the bank of Ebro. However, up till now none of them has been settled on.

Obviously, in the middle of April, Agustina will already have her new face and body. The actress will be definitely chosen during the gala (with invitations) which will be celebrated on 26th of March at the Espacio Ambar in the capital of Aragon, in which eight to ten girls will participate.

Everyone wants to be ‘Agustina’

A hundred of young girls (a half of all registered) participated in the casting last Thursday. As it had been said before, the casting took place in the ‘Municipal School of the Theatre’ in Saragossa. All girls had to interpret three phrases in front of the jury. One of them was: “No somos asesinos, solo defendemos a nuestra gente!”, what means “We are not assassins, we only defend our people!”.

Several TV was present during the casting, both private and public, local but also from Madrid and Barcelona, what made the event really important. Among them: tve1, Antena3, Tele5, Aragón TV, ZTV, Agencia EFE, Popular TV.

The casting was organized in order to choose ‘Agustina’ who will appear in a ‘teaser’, which will be presented to producers, actors’ agents and investors involved in the production. The future plans are to show the ‘teaser’ in New York, where people from Tribeca Film Festival are interested to finance the affair.

THERE ARE ALREADY MORE THAN 120 CANDIDATES!

There will be a casting in Saragossa to choose its heroine.

There are already more than 120 girls from Saragossa signed up for a casting which will take place next Thursday at the Municipal School of the Theatre. A young girl will be chosen in order to play Agustina de Aragón at a big screen.

The candidates will have to show in two minutes that they own the same Aragón’s determination as a heroine with her immortal canon shot during the siege. What is more they should have “a powerful image and a penetrating look”, explains Fernando Monzón, the author of a comic on which a possible movie will be based, a project for sale which is still looking for a producer.

Currently, the 3Lemon agency, where Monzón is working, wants to prepare a “teaser” or a video recording which will last four minutes and serve as an initiative promotion. The trailer shooting will start at a beginning of May and will be present this summer in a popular historic staging Batalla de Bailén. The mythical scene of a cannon shot will start the project. “We want to reflect that Saragossa was subdued by the cannons’ shots, so Agustina guided by her survival instinct, decided to use a fire. The story of the movie would start from this scene”, he explains.

However, in order to animate a movie, it is crucial to tell a story using the new Agustina who will be adapted for a screen.

On 12th of February, Monzón together with Marisa Nolla Salvado, a director of the Municipal School of the Theatre will form a part of judges and they will choose the young one. This one who wants to recreate Agustina should be a 22 years old woman with a characteristic of a girl from nowadays.

The casting will be intensive. It will start at 4 p.m. and finish at 9 p.m. The interest of candidates was really big and that is why it has been thinking to organize one more casting soon.

Each of the actresses will have two minutes to show why she is worth to be Agustina. “We don’t need anyone with dramatic knowledge. The candidates between 18 and 25 will have to recite some short phrases”, explains Monzón.

The movie shooting has already had its promotion agenda. It will be presented in September, during the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. The comic on which the movie will be based and which was presented at the last Salón del Cómic in Saragossa will be on sale on 6th of March, commemorating the day of birth of Agustina de Aragón in 1786.
