The volcano Eyjafjöll's ash cloud was a natural disaster, not visible to the naked eye. Airplanes sat on the ground even though the sun was shining from the bright blue sky. As people were not able to verify the catastrophe by themselves, they could only rely on the information given to them. It did not matter whether or not you were rich or poor - the plane's did not fly.
