he Story
I am an atheist at the moment, I was born atheist had a few lapses during my childhood but nothing that cause any permanent damage except for a small snip. I have been rated by Klout.com as the 6th most influential person on the subject of atheism in social media world wide. While I am skeptical about this figure it does show that there are many people who will be seeing this and hopefully joing you in supporting this project.
I have been told that everyone needs to believe in something so I am heading out on a road trip. I will be test driving religions around my country of New Zealand (sometimes referred to as Godzone). I am planning to visit many groups who think theirs is the one true religion and everyone will get the chance to pitch their god or gods.
I will also be talking to experts in religion including professors who have had their lives threatened and even faced trial for heresy.
It is going to be a interesting ride and I'll be taking you with me when I set up a an ask a atheist tent at the biggest Christian event in New Zealand or knock on the Door of Opus Dei. I'll talk to the vicar who ran the billboard with the Virgin Mary with a pregnancy test & a picture of Jesus on the cross being "liked" on Judas' facebook page.
Add to this confirmed interviews with young earthers, ark fanciers, tongue speakers, spiritual healers and a mosque with jihadists on their wall of fame
The movie will hopefully culminate with interviews with New Zealand’s two most famous religious figures.
The Impact
The movie will be released via film festivals, iTunes and NetFlix for 6 months and then will be release for full free distribution. The will be an educational resource made to fit within New Zealand’s secondary school curriculum and distributed to all secondary schools for use in their religious education & social studies classes.
During the first 6 months those who have supported the programme will get advanced free copies to watch in the comfort of their home or for larger investors to fundraise for their non profit society or church.
What We Need & What You Get
This project does need some financial assistance. We have all the cameras lined up and will be meeting the cost of accommodation ourselves. However we will be travelling a lot and itunes charges some pretty big fees to get a movie published.
We need a few more mics to make sure the sound is crystal clear, but we have a professional movies sound producer and composer on baord so cost there have been reduced.
None of the crew will be taking a wage but we may give them the odd sandwhich if they behave.
If we exceed our budget then the balance will be spent on promotion.
